"Hack fix" is no more needed with recent versions of the emulator. But you won't get correct audio if you can't run the game full-speed
(01-05-2014, 08:46 PM)Skullhack Wrote: [ -> ]So, on dolphin 4.0.2, i tried OpenGL with lowest graphic settings (1x native and no hd texture), the game ran at 50% speed, unplayable.

If you were following my suggestion, I said "current development build", which 4.0.2 is not. I'm not just being nitpicky here, there's a post-4.0 commit that hasn't been included in 4.0.1/2 that massively speeds things up on AMD GPUs (it'll likely run about as fast as DX9, if not faster). Try 4.0-595 or whatever the latest build is by the time you read this. https://dolphin-emu.org/download/

As for other settings, it's crackling because you're using OpenAL with too low of a latency – you're supposed to set it to the lowest value that doesn't produce any crackling. (The actual latency on OpenAL is ridiculous regardless of the latency you choose, that's a known issue.) You can also just use XAudio, which'll just stutter when the game's not running at full speed instead of adding a painful amount of latency.
Recently got a 360 controller, would anyone care to share their configs?

For this game, you'll want to set it up as an emulated Classic Controller. Set Wii Remote 1 to "Emulated Wiimote", click "Configure", set the Device in the upper-left to the XInput option that corresponds to your 'pad, then choose "Classic" for the Extension and click "Configure" under that; the rest should be a mostly-obvious click-a-button-press-a-button routine. (The one point that isn't obvious is probably the L/R-Analog part; set both L and L-Analog to LT and likewise for RT (and set ZL/ZR to LB/RB), and leave the Threshold at 90 unless you hate having to press down all the way to use the buttons, in which case you lower it.)
Ok i tried the last developement build and it's the same, sound isues and not really fun to play. BUT, on my "old" dolpin version (the one with the HLE fix) i have 30 fps, 100% speed, no sound issues in hd texture pack 3x native, because i disabled the EFB to RAM thing. So i can appreciate the game, thx for the help guys, Link_to_the_past in particular because that's the thing who fixed my fps issues.

Thx everyone, now i can ruin my life on Xenoblade ^^

Can you tell me which version did you use ?
It's 3.0-72 "Xenoblade HLE Hack", it's a special version made for Xenoblade to correct sound issues.
The current revisions of Dolphin play the sound correctly if you can run the game fullspeed. Xenoblade Chronicles is really particular about Framelimit settings (I use Auto and disable Limit by FPS, everything else gave me issues) but other than that, I haven't had a sound issue since 3.5-1154 (the revision HLE audio for AX microcode Wii games was essentially fixed).

Please note that while everyone is free to use whatever revision he or she wants to, old revisions are not supported on the forums. Basically, use whatever you want, but anything less than 4.0 means you're on your own when it comes to dealing with issues. In particular, Xenoblade Chronicles used to be extremely crash-happy before the FIFO-BP branch was merged sometime after 3.5. Given that you can easily spend 70-80 hours on your first (or second, or third...) playthrough of this game, that's a lot of chances to crash if you ask me.
Yes but in fact i see that : most recent Dolphin version (4.0.5) can't run Xenoblade full speed in lowest graphic settings, and my older version (3.0) can run it 100% speed in 3x native with HD texture pack (a lot more power consumer), sorry but i'm a bit disapointed when i see that "new" version are less stable than older...

And what crashes are you talking about ? Still nothing after 20h personnaly...
Newer revisions of Dolphin are more demanding than older builds. Not being able to run new builds at fullspeed is a hardware issue. It's not much different from other software (like PC games) that require better hardware as time goes on and new software is released.

The crashes are by definition random, as in the circumstances behind them and their frequency varies. If you don't believe this game crashed frequently, take a look at the old Xenoblade thread in the archived Game Discussion forum (the old Game Discussion forum). It was a very common issues with this game, even with LLE audio.
