You are probably right since the dolphin save folder is now not in the same folder as the game anymore and my name on computer has a letter "Å" in it which we use in Sweden, probably can't be recognized or something you mean?

So which version do I need to use? I could try to change my computer name but last time I did that I had some problems with other games so I rather not try that again.

EDIT: Found the newest developers version which I guess is the best one right now, thanks for the tip, it's working now Smile.

On 4.0.1 for me, I found that I have to put the config and textures in the My Documents location (a smaller and slower primary HD) even if I explicitly set the settings to load from the install location (a faster secondary HD). Not sure if fixed in a developer version.

Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is where I should post my question. So before I fill up your monitors with screenshots, I'll just ask. I've been playing a lot of Xenoblade on my Wii but found the classic controller pro is rather awful for some wrist/arm issues I have. I'd rather play it on my newer gaming laptop with dolphin if possible and a controller I find less irritating. I've got the controller working with dolphin 4.0 but I cannot seem to get Xenoblade to run without choppy slowdown during both cutscenes and gameplay. I'm hopeful my laptop should be up to snuff to run this in dolphin. It's a Lenovo y510p. I can post all the tech specs and dolphin screenshots if this is the appropriate place. Would this be the proper place to do that? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Xenoblade has surprising jumps in resource usage for certain effects. OpenGL is less prone to the stuttering because of how it caches, and OpenGL is really fast on Nvidia chips, so it could be a good bet. AMD cards aren't as friendly with OpenGL though, so if you have that you may be out of luck. Also, an SSD may be able to help with D3D caching and thus stuttering. Looong story.

There is a bit of a hack available though. If you are willing to forgo some graphical effects, you can be stutter free for sure by doing a little trick that was fixed recently. Click the spoiler for details. It kills me a little inside to recommend it, but it really can help...

Err, have you been like, not looking at development?

Erm, right, I forgot about that.

To everyone, use OpenGL.
I can assure you Major that with 4.0.2 at least, OpenGL makes stuttering WORSE than DirectX 9/11 on an AMD card and does NOT minimize it. At least with DirectX 9/11 stuttering only occurs with effects, OpenGL has stuttering pretty much everywhere with an AMD card.
Yeah, this was done after that
Incidentally since you are in charge of the wiki Major, I had considerable graphic corruption with catalyst 13.4 and OpenGL, don't know if that's worth putting on the wiki, it's fixed with the latest version of catalyst.
______
Also, my general testing result with 4.0.2 is that it is worse than 4.0.1 for Xenoblade on my computer, for some weird reason...

Is this in the Master branch? Never used google code to manage versions before, can't tell what branch it's in without doing a Git Clone myself.

Scroll down. Those are the dev versions, and they are much newer than the releases. Even 4.0.2 is just 4.0 with some changes, making it months old. The change in OGL on AMD cards should GREATLY help you. But remember that the stuttering that problem is referring to is not entirely performance related. I have a beast of a machine and it happens when when the framerate is 60fps steady. It's a stuttering that is common to dolphin when caching is created/accessed whatever. D3D has worse stuttering problems because of how it caches compared to OpenGL. The best example of that is how a merging of the videocommon brought all of those D3D stuttering issues over to OpenGL. It made OpenGL behave in a similar way, and so... stuttering.

Any stuttering or slowness that is system related, such as not running the game at fullspeed, is not part of that problem. That's expected.

One of three. I'm just everywhere. And loud. Tongue
