Push the analog controler only slightly if you use classic controler. With keyboard you're out of luck.

Well if he really wanted to he could set up the keyboard to be able to walk, but then he couldn't run XD

I have tried that also.

As long as I am in colony 9, the games runs smoothly (+60 fps when set in auto, which is way to fast). As soon as I reach Tetra Caves (I think that's the name) or Bionis Leg, the fps drops to 27 and 22 while in fight.

Anyways it's only annoying noticeable with sounds on and I rarely play with the sound anymore so I got used to it.

Thank you
I'm starting to think Dolphin 4.0.1 is the issue. I saw a few other people mention a performance drop when moving from 3.5.x to 4.0 or 4.0.1

I had Xenoblade running flawlessly after spending 2 hours playing with the settings on 4.0. Then, I updated to 4.0.1 and all of a sudden the audio is stuttering like crazy and I'm getting framerate drops below 30 constantly.

My computer is very similar to yours: i7-3770 processor and GTX 660 GPU.
I dont know why the post with patched version that fixed the sound was closed, it was unjustified because that thing work wonders, the first time i finished the game i made it with the early version of that patch and was ok, but now i used the "new" build: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-patch-xenoblade-hle-audio-hack-fix?pid=169677#pid169677 and it is awesome really im runign almost at full spedd and my machine is not the greatest, all i can tell is if someone has this sttutering with audio download this build (follow the link i provided) and see for yourself, i tried new builds that supposedly fixed the problem and they dont fix it it stutters like hell., that is why i think that post closed its unjustified.
It stutters because your computer isn't fast enough to run it at fullspeed. All of the bugs that the hack builds you tried "fixed" were caused by the async audio, the very feature you want to stop stuttering.

The patch thread you linked to is obsolete, using hacks to fix hacks. It was closed for a very good reason.

The patch is no longer necessary because current builds play the audio just fine. You must run the game fullspeed, however, or else it will stutter. The old builds had asynchronous audio, which was part of the problem why sound wouldn't play right in some games in the first place. The latest revisions use synchronous audio (audio processing is tied to the game speed, basically) so good audio quality means running the game at nearly fullspeed or above. The patch is also for builds that are no longer supported here on the forums.
You 2 are talking like it fixes the problems for every people and it DOSENT so, why close it?, it should be even linked in the first post with an exlplanation on what escenarios you should try that, a lot of people would benefit from it and not just stop trying to play the game just because the builds you recommend dont help them in any way.

So, again, if you are having major audio sttutering with this game and the game runs already ok but your only problem is the audio then try this:
https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-patch-xenoblade-hle-audio-hack-fix?pid=169677#pid169677
I already told you, if you cannot run this game fullspeed, it will stutter. In the latest revisions, this is true for all games that use the AX ucode to process audio (which means 99% more or less). If you cannot run games at fullspeed, no proper audio for you. Running the game at an ok speed is not sufficient. At that point, it's an issue with your hardware not Dolphin. If you still get weird audio even with fullspeed, set your Franwlimit to Auto, uncheck Limit by FPS and disable the VBeam Speed hack. This game is picky with framelimit options.

Old builds are unsupported on the forums. Everyone can use whatever he or she likes, but if you have issues with outdated Dolphin builds, you have to deal with that on your own. The patched build is riddled with random crashes that were only fixed after the FIFO-BP branch was merged into master, for example. As far as the devs, the wiki editors, and forum staff are concerned, all audio issues specific to this game were fixed in 3.5-1154, again on the condition that emulation speed is consistently at or close to 100%.
Hi!

I recently started to play Xenoblade and everything was fine until I started fighting mechons, frame rate was stable but a lot of audio stuttering/Choppy during these fights and it's really annoying.
Just got the monado and it seems that its getting worse. Everything is fine when I am out of combats or during cut scenes.
Tried looking for various fixes, but nothing seems to work so far. I will post screens of my settings and cpu spec and hope that one of you can help me. Smile

CPU
- Windows 7 pro
- Gforce GTX 660 ti
- Intel i3-3220 3.30ghz
- 8 gigs of ram

Framelimit : Auto
Limit by FPS : Unchecked

This game is picky about the Framelimit, but this combo works best for me. I used to get FPS drops with other settings, but I finally found that this just works. Also:

EFB Copies : Texture
External Frame Buffer : Disable

You only need EFB Copies set on RAM if you need proper glow effects from Ether deposits and certain lighting effects (the glow from some of the Lizard Men's magic clubs or whatever). Pretty small stuff for the performance impact it usually has. Texture looks just fine, and I've been playing this game 30+ hours on Dolphin so far. The External Frame Buffer is unneeded for this game and many games. In fact, don't enable it unless the Dolphin Wiki advises you.
Thanks for the prompt reply Smile, but unfortunately it seems to not be enough.. I can hardly see any difference.
Is there something else I could try? I am not sure if my pc is the problem, my spec should be good enough to run this game.
At the same time, the audio stutter/choppiness seems to be worse when the screen is loaded with effects and monsters/characters.

Not sure if there is anything else I could try?

Thanks!
