Playing with an older version won't help. This issue has existed since it was possible to raise the IR of Dolphin, and it doesn't just affect Xenoblade. I think EFB to RAM would fix it, but that also mean performance would take a hit, so it's really your pick.
I already play with EFB to RAM, but yeah, going back to an old version doesn't seem to work. But I could swear it wasn't like this when I played it on my old PC over a year ago.
Luckily they don't use that bloom effect TOO much.
Yep, that version worked. For some reason I tested it with Direct3D the last time, haha.
Thanks!
Playing with 8x SSAA helps a lot with the newer version, which makes that effect more blurry and less pronounced, but it's really taxing.
If that old build helps, i guess the effect now works with efb2tex, bad scales badly with higher IR. You could turn off scaled efb copies, but that reduces the quality quite a bit. Scaled efb copies off or a lower IR like 2x, + SSAA might get good results.
Hey everyone, I just downloaded Dolphin for the first time last night, so I'm brand new to all this. I was just hoping you guys could help me choose the best settings for playing the NTSC version Xenoblade Chronicles with the highest most consistent framerate, regardless of how bad it looks since speed is more important to me than graphics. My system specs are:
Windows 8.1 64-bit, Intel Core i5-3230M CPU @ 2.6GHz, 8 GB RAM (of which 7.89 are usable), and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M. Also I have Dolphin 5.0.
I would appreciate any advice, and if this is the wrong thread to post in I apologize, just please point me in the right direction if that's the case. Thanks!
If that's what you want, the default settings should be fine, although you may want to test different graphics backends to see which one is the fastest. I also suggest trying the latest development build instead of 5.0.
So im a bit new to dolphin for wii emulation so forgive my dumness.
Im currently using 5.0 of dolphin and no matter what i select for audio, there always seems to be a delay starting around the first minute or so of the game. When the words eons have passed and before the first gameplay happens. While I can play this on my wiiu I want to run this on my pc to see the HD texture pack in action.
Ive seen people play this at 1080 with similar builds as mine but not sure how they get these audio settings. Help on this would be greatly helped. The game stays at mostly 30fps but will drop to 25 sometimes.
Theres also something i hear enable vperfect something but im not seeing that at all on the game properties and graphics properties. Thanks.
Audio:

DSP LLE on Thread: ON
Enable Audio Throttle: ON
Audio Backend - DSound

LLE on thread isn't an option in 5.0, it's handled automatically. But you don't need LLE for Xenoblade, HLE works fine and is faster. You should also try using XAudio2. In fact, I'm pretty sure DSound isn't an option anymore, nor is audio throttle, so I'm fairly certain you're lying about using 5.0.
