I could help you get rid of stutter :
_First overclock your CPU (3.0GHz or higher , the higher clock the better performance you will get)
Audio stuttering happens when game is not running at full speed .
_Second , the settings : Right-click the game -> Properties -> Untick "Enable Idle Skipping" and tick "Enable FPRF" . By doing this , you will no long have any stutter even if game is not running at full speed . This method works for pretty much all games (there are a few games don't work with it though)
I'ld rather not tinker with the CPU, I don't have the know how for that too.
Changing these options did get rid of the stutter but the frames are lower too, but I did found a way to lower stutter and get a few frames out of it by enabling CPU clock overwrite and lowering it a bit.

I find it hilarious how it runs constantly at full speed but as soon as I click the button to start a fight: BANG! DROP YOUR FRAMES BOY!
4GB RAM is recommended for Dolphin iirc which would cost like $30, and if you oc'd that cpu to 3.0 you'd be happier. there are several guides online on how to do it safely and simply
I actually don't think 4GB of RAM do anything more than 2 for Dolphin. What does Dolphin actually need RAM for?
It's really mostly the CPU that's holding him back...

Hi everyone,

I've recently tried emulating Xenoblade on my PC since I saw how much nicer it looked than on the Wii. Despite some big hurdles at the start (17 fps in the prologue battle, lol) I managed to find a way to manage a stable 30 fps with the HD texture pack at *3 native by using Dolphin Ishiiruka, except in battles with a lot of enemies where it usually dropped to 17-25 fps. Also, sometimes the fps dropped to 20-22 fps for no apparent reason and stayed like this until i restarted the emulation.

Anyway, I thought it was normal (a friend of mine told me his Wii slowed down during the final fight for example). It surprised me when I saw on Dolphin's wiki's page that my setup should apparently support a constant 30 fps even with *4 AA and *16 anisotropic filtering. I had *1 AA and no AF so I was quite surprised... especially when I dropped to 15 fps out of battle when modifying the settings to *4 and *8. Urgh.

I chose to bear with it... until my fps dropped to 15 for the whole final fight. I think the lightbeam effect's cause some kind of fps drops on my computer for reasons I can't understand (example : the penultimate's boss switching forms after you beat him uses exactly this kind of light rays/beams and it messes up my fps from 30 to 20).

Sorry for the lengthy introduction but I wanted you to know my situation and that I've already tried solutions with my basic knowledge. My setup is :
- Windows 8.1 x64
- Nvidia GTX 870M
- i7 4600HQ @ 2.40 GHz
- 16 Go RAM (8 native + 8 installed)

From what I saw on the wiki, my setup should be perfectly able to run XC at a constant 30 fps even with the HD pack and higher-demanding setups. I tried downloading the specific version of Dolphin specidfied in the wiki's tests in case something screwed it up in the latest releases but it was to no avail. Ishiiruka is ok except for the lightbeam and occasional frame drop issues, but the latest releases all have audio stutters in battle/when switching menus and more severe/frequent fps drops, usually when entering battle/animations appear on the screen (especially on the first time for e.g. Melia's "Manifest yourself")

Oh yeah, from what I understood OpenGL is better than D3D9/11 but from my experience it was the opposite so I ended up using the latter ; however, the tests on the wiki suggest that those stutters are minimal and it doesn't fully explain my issues, I think (keeping in mind that I had more stutters with OpenGL anyway).

I'll post my settings for both Ishiiruka and the latest dev release in case I screwed up something and you guys can help me :
http://imgur.com/a/RvSu7 (first image is the settings for the latest dev realease, second for Ishiiruka)

(Advanced is only Load Custom Textures checked for the HD patch, and I didn't check CPU overclock in config).

So yeah, I can't figure out why my config doesn't handle Xenoblade so if one fo you guys had the same issues/knows how to fix them, I'll gladly take your advice !

Edit : I use a patched EU version in order to get 30 fps, in case it wasn't clear ; I use a gamer laptop, so maybe the GPU is too weak to support *8 and *16, but shouldn't it be able to run @30fps without problem otherwise ?
Laptop Performance Guide is here
Your laptop should max out this game

My PC is way to sensitive, hell, it somehow broke the RAM to only accept 1 ram stick at a time after changing the graphic cards. I will never touch it again until I get me a new one.
I'm happy how everythings run though, the vast majority of games run at full speed, even Wii games like Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, it's just the battle in this one.

Tried it on a buddies PC who has a better CPU than me, and the frame drops in battle there too, might be some problems with AMD graphic cards or the Direct3D backend, can't test OpenGL tho, it's way too slow on my system.
i don't think it would be a graphics card issue.

The 30 FPS patch for PAL appears to be gone, can anyone provide a mirror link or something?

Yeah, could someone kind upload 30 FPS patch ? Smile
