Howdy,
I just downloaded Dolphin 5.0, and I was playing Pokemon XD. I was playing it for about a week with no problems, running 30 FPS and the emulation was super smooth.
I noticed that the frames were dropping to 11-26, and couldn't figure out the problem. After about 2 hours of searching, I decided I should plug in my laptop, and when I was connected to direct power, my game sped back up to 30 FPS.
Can anyone explain why that is? Also, is there a way for me to run at full speed without having to have my laptop plugged into a power source? It's a newer laptop, hp envy x360, the battery is still going strong.
I'm not much of a tech wizard so I'm not amazing at troubleshooting.
Any help would be vastly appreciated. (sentences spaced out for ease of reading.

Because of the credits after the final boss, it goes to the main menu where I'm unable to load a file and thus unable to 100% it. Or is there not a way to play that part of it yet?
I would like an answer to this question as well, since I have reached the same problem.
Have you been using in-game saves, or save states?
Save states. In-game saves have never worked for me for that game; they've worked fine for all others.
This is a game where savestates are likely to break the ability to make in-game saves. The proper solution to the problem is essentially to never use savestates at all while playing. If you are already at the point where making in-game saves has become impossible, I don't think there's anything you can do other than starting over.

I assume by this you mean the game says "the save is corrupted" or something along those lines when you try to save? If so, I found a fix (of sorts) for that. Make a savestate where you currently are and then close the emulation. Open the gamecube save manager and delete your xd save, then relaunch the game, reinitialize the save and start a new game. Once you finish the intro cutscene and intro battle and gain full control, open the menu and save your new game. Then load your savestate and you should be able to save over your 3 minute-ish long save and everything goes back to normal. I think it may have something to do with loading a save that's before where your last hardsave was, but I'm not entirely sure. It happened to me a few times but doing this would fix it for a while, until I broke it again.
Howdy, I'm having a really odd issue with the game. Playing on an EU version I get background music and everything seems to be in working order, but playing on the NTSC version there is absolutely zero background audio.
If anyone has any idea whats causing this I would be so grateful for the help, thanks!
EDIT: yeah nvm I suppose cheats were transferred over when I tried to uninstall so good job me, anyways problem solved
I've been playing this game. After some initial hiccups with lags and crashes, I managed to fix it and it runs rather smoothly. One thing I have yet to fix is that the screen keeps readjusting as I move around the map. Depending on where I am, it will widen out to the full screen or take up a square of the screen, with the left and right corners black. This sometimes shifts between one and the other so consistently and quickly that it's a little dizzying to be honest. Would like to know if there's any graphics option that's contributing to this or is this just my new reality? It only happens with this game, as I've also been playing Luigi's Mansion without this effect
This is a known bug/problem with the Auto Aspect Ratio setting and a few games including this one. Set it to force 4:3 for the orignal aspect ratio, or if you want widescreen/using a widescreen cheat code force it to 16:9
