4.0.2 is super old. You need to use a development build before you can determine if there's really a problem. Development builds are much faster and have better audio than 4.0.2, so they might fix your problem.
This game runs smoothly and up to speed for me, but every so often the video seems to freeze for a moment. The game is still running (I can move about in menus and hear sound) but it takes several seconds for the video to catch up. Speed shows 100%, good FPS, etc. I can also pause the emulation and unpause to get out of the freeze.
Any suggestions? I suspect it maybe my integrated graphics, but it seems odd that the speed is unaffected otherwise.
I have ig and have never come across such an issue. Try using the latest dev version instead of 5.0-rc

Installed the Arch git package (currently rev 9047). It maybe does it less, but still happens occasionally. I don't have time to play right now, but fiddled with the Adv menu, and every 1/8 or so times the menus lag for about 2 seconds.
I've been playing this game on Dolphin 4.0 9050 for the past week or so using OpenGL, and it was running flawlessly until yesterday.
Now when I try to play it using OpenGL, I get black screens in the intro, parts of the title screen/menu don't render, and the parts that do are all scrambled up.
I can still play the game using D3D11 or D3D12, but I want to play it using OpenGL, so I don't get the red outlines on character drawings.
I recently installed an update for Windows, before this problem started occurring, so I was wondering if a system restore could fix the problem.
Updating my graphics driver solved the problem.
There seems to be a problem with path of radiance. Ever since i upgraded my Macbook Pro to macOS Sierra, i tried to play path of radiance with the more recent versions of dolphin but there are some serious lagging issues going on with it.
There've been a few people saying the new macOS Sierra has dropped Dolphin performance. It seems that it's not a Dolphin issue as much as an mac issue for now. Someone will investigate it properly eventually, it's just not likely to come all that soon.

I still hope that the developers will update Dolphin to where is more compatible with macOS Sierra
