By enabling the DSP, do you mean setting the DSP emulator engine to LLE or something? The DSP is always emulated in some capacity, else most games wouldn't boot. LLE is much more demanding than HLE; any frame rate drops are not unexpected. If you are using LLE, you'll need to enable LLE on Thread + Accurate VBeam Emulation to get the most from your system without overclocking.
Btw, just thought I'd point out that this game is extremely light on the GPU. Feel free to pump up the graphics as far as you can go. I can easily play this on 4x IR with the max AA for OGL.

Oops a bit of a error there. I meant HLE the game, even with LLE on thread and accurate V-beam is still unplayable (too me) I have an overclocked CPU one of the best money can buy. HLE has synced sound and the game runs at a solid 30fps. No dips.
You're like the 5th user I've seen with an OCed "K" model that can't get this game to run at decent speeds with LLE

I find it a bit concerning since I was able to do this with my stock i5-2500K. Note, I haven't tested it on 3.5 or the latest, I'll probably update this post in an hour or so.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the specific audio backend? I see that OpenAL is being reworked, and I think it's returning to Windows once again. Who knows if it'll make a difference for you, but when builds from that branch become available, it may be something to check out.

We also may have different thresholds of what is considered playable. Did you look at my FPS log? is that what you get? It's likely that people who buy the 'K' series have a much lower tolerance to framerate drops (because we don't see it that often) while the i5 folks are a bit on the other end of the spectrum.

I'm talking near constant 30 FPS fullspeed :p a few areas at certain angles would drop to 20 FPS, but everything else was perfect. I saw your FPS log, and it's nothing like my results. Like I said, if you can wait a bit, I'll test it on newer revs. Last time I tried LLE on this game was 3.0-809.

Oh I didn't mean stop what you were doing, I just was posting an observation. Nice to hear my fps log is not normal. That clears that up a bit.
I get about 70%-75% with LLE Audio with LLE on thread on my i5 3570k oced to 4ghz since anything higher is pretty unstable for me. Using build 3.5-202 here. HLE is stable 100% for me. you sure the game runs at 30vps since it runs at 60vps for me. I have the limit by fps unticked and have the limiter set to audio instead of auto since auto causes issues in ToS(GC) for me
Compiling the latest rev right now, but 3.5 runs this game on LLE at 30 FPS more or less. Certain attacks in battle with drop it down to 20 temporarily; I'm currently grinding in Looper Land, and their fire breath attacks are one such example. Small dips occur (e.g. to 25), when the screen goes black during scene transitions, presumably because it's loading. By and large though, I'm able to maintain 30 FPS.
The VPS stands for the amount of frame render requests the emulated CPU sends to the emulated GPU, but the FPS represents the actual amount Dolphin is rendering. It's normal for 30 FPS games have a VPS of 60.
Finally upgraded my computer! I can run this game to 100% speed without any OC and it sounds good with LLE audio, but there is that horrible blue/red box under the characters.
Is there any way to fix it?

Nope, not yet. The Software Renderer probably eliminates that issue (haven't verified it myself) but SW isn't too fast or capable of rendering in HD :p
