This game uses compressed audio. The music won't sound anywhere near as good as the DC version or the OST. The developers had to fit all of the game data onto the GC's discs, so the music took a hit. If you're playing the game with LLE audio and you're running it at fullspeed, that's the same sound output a real GC should give you, ideally.

Hello, I started playing Skies on Dolphin yesterday and aside from the Alt-Tabbing issue I haven't run into any major problems. I do have one very specific problem though that I'm not sure the origin of.

When played at the "correct" 4:3 aspect ratio, the aspect ratio of the game (not the UI, only the rendered game world) is stretched horizontally. It seems the game was not meant to be rendered in 4:3. I don't know if this is an artifact of the true Gamecube version, meaning it's rendering as it did on the Gamecube, or if there's something very specifc to Skies going on in the renderer.

I can workaround this by setting the renderer to stretch to window and just playing it with a square-ish window. This causes the UI to be shrinked horizontally, but this bothers me significantly less than if the 3d is stretched. Theoretically the widescreen tweak could be used to reverse this effect by forcing a 4:3 resolution, but then adding a little bit of the widescreen tweak so that the result is an ideal image. However, we don't have direct or granular enough control over the Widescreen hack to do this.

Any ideas or suggestions?
Here's an example screenshot. Pay specific attention to the circle on the door, as that illustrates the point easiest.

And here's another example:

Could you try and find some screenshots/videos of the game running on a real GameCube to compare?

These are from batman9502's Let's Play of SoA:L on youtube (I recall that it's on an actual GameCube). To me it looks like Dolphin's doing it right

Yeah, I was looking up some screenshots myself and I think Dolphin is doing it right. I think there's something borked with the Gamecube port itself. I've seen on some screenshots like below that it letterboxes (well, the horizontal equivalent of it). I'm not sure where that's coming from, just noting it.

if i use 16:9 with widescreen hack, this happens or game not strech horizontal?

Hey guys,

I am not as tech savy as some of you guys, but I know my way around a computer for the most part. I just may need some help with the Dolphin Configurations. As for the problems that needs fixing; when I enter the water tunnels later in the game. The game does not freeze, but the screen freaks out and turns all sorts of colors and I cannot make out a single thing that Vyse is doing. This allows me not to continue on with the game. If someone has any suggestions, that would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am on a Mac running Dolphin 4.0
Try using the very latest development builds (4.0-112 as of this writing). https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ This game is completely free of glitches or problems thanks to recent changes (at least it should be ideally, according to my thorough tests).

Thanks for the suggestion Shonumi, but that also did not work. There were still the pink lines and screen freakout when I entered the water tunnels. I appreciate the suggestion, but is there anything else that might help? The game does not freeze, the screen just freaks out which is not allowing me to continue the game.
