I'm not at my PC right now, so I can't test D3D 9, but I did test OGL, and it had the bug with the shadows, while D3D 11 was fine.

I'm thinking of testing each build to find which one had the change that fixed that bug for D3D 11, so hopefully the devs can try to do the same in at least OGL (as I hear D3D 9 support is going to be removed)

And thanks, xemnas, I'll make sure to report when I get to a PC.
Tested it on the 4.0 stable up to the first save point, and i can confirm that the shadows are indeed fixed in d3d11, not sure if it was fixed before (i haven't tested this game since a 3.0 dev build), but the menus are also fixed as well.
The menus, iirc, are due to EFB2RAM and the Texture Cache Accuracy being overridden in the .ini files. Though before the .inis were updated, EFB2RAM was enough for me.

I want OpenGL shadows fixed Sad Will provide FIFO logs on Google Code if it helps (which issue is this again?)
I don't have the shadow problem on OGL on 4.0-48 (win7 x64)

also, wow, ogl + that vertex shader hack really is quite a bit faster :3

it was issue 6148, btw
Just tested 4.0-50. Indeed, it works without the shadow problem. Wonderful, seems like they fixed it soon after the release.

Edit: But seems like save-states created in or before 4.0-stable won't load, instead, they crash Dolphin. Similarly, loading a save-state created in 4.0-50 will crash 4.0-stable
same here with the save states

This is nothing new actually. If Dolphin versions and revisions differ enough, the save states are incompatible. Depending on what commits were made between two revisions, save states might still be transferable, or not. It's only been a handful of revisions since 4.0, but the code can still change a lot.

@Xana - On 4.0, shadows still appear cyan/greenish (where they should be black) for me. I didn't notice any red shadows, but I'll have to play and compare older revisions. I want it to work for me Sad

It looks like 4.0-48 fixed it (the gameini update). the shadows are still there in 4.0-47 for me.
Cool, looks like the issue was actually fixed pre-4.0 (https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=3ec9f9b64a07e1c5e4ca3482fc6fc96db533021c ), thus the projection hacks are no longer necessary. The projection hacks were the cause of the shadows all along it seems, but the gameinis needed changing to reflect the commit I linked to. Awesome!
In pirate base, the sound is very annoying... have a strange distorcion... in HLE and LLE. rev 4.0 56
