Drool at the thought of HD textures.
Ever since I've updated my Dolphin, This game's been acting funny: On racer select and actual racing, the game chugs along at 20 FPS. Everything else runs smooth as silk.
Could this be something to do with the version of the emulator?
What was the old version and what is the new one?

The new one is the newest one currently available. I've also had problems back with 4.0-3595, but I can't remember the version I used before that one.
I'm in the process of testing out other games, and so far they're working fine: LoZ Wind Waker and Paper Mario act fine.

Well, that fixed it. Thanks.
Out of curiosity, is the GPU Sync on by default?
For this game I believe yes

A long time ago it was removed from default by skidau, it is not in the latest build (which btw has the option broken in a sense).
Are v-sync crashes gone now?
Every since I updated to the latest version as of 2-3 days ago, the game no longer crashes for me with vsync enabled. I have not played for extended periods of time but have completed some races without problem, including Sand Ocean Lateral Shift which previously was sure to crash the emulator when going inside the pyramid or earlier.
I don't have any game setting overrides for the game and I'm not disabling dual core. I did get a rare reset or two due to that but not the crashes I would get from vsync.
Being able to run with vsync, 1080p, AA and Anisotropic filtering makes the game look fantastic. Now if I could get my hands on some HD textures as mentioned above and performance was better in Sand Ocean that would make it darn near perfect.
The textures are already incredible in the game but extra hi-rez textures like 4K or even 8K would be AMAZING!! Any word on those?
