i wanted to make some hd costum textures for F-zero GX.
but when i dump the texures, in the GFZP01 folder are many textures (like the track's surface texture) multiple saved.
thats pretty annoying.
(and i have the feeling that the names of the textures are not equal to other dolphin releases texture dumps)

i'm using dolphi revision 3.5 r1249
Are you sure the textures aren't slightly different? At any rate this is likely how the game was made and you can't do anything about it

Please don't discourage him. I for one, would be EXTREMELY excited to see CosmoCortney make some custom textures for F-Zero GX. I mean seriously are you kidding me?!?!?! That would freakin' AWESOME! CosmoCortney please don't give on this project. We're all rooting for you buddy!
Big Grin
I'm not trying, I'm just being honest

just to verify, i dumped the textures with the latest dolphin build, with Revision 2.0 and i extracted the game's .tpl file.
all textures are containing in the .tpl file for only one time. so i can conclude that the Emulator does multiple dumps (except for HUD elements).
and dolphin Emu 2.0 (and i remember other older revisions) does not do multiple dumps of these textures.
only the late revisions do.
and non of the images dumped with late revisions of the emulator have matching file names with dumps from older Emulators, even the same textures were dumped.
Does anyone care to look at my specs on my profile and tell me if my rig is powerful enough to run this game properly in some capacity. Haven't had the best of luck so far, with framerate dips from 60-30 during races, menus etc. but perhaps I don't have the right settings.
Your CPU is more than capable of handling this game with ease. But as I've been telling you all day, you'll probably want to OC your CPU. I mean, why else did you get the "K" model? Big Grin
MY PC was pre-built, but then I swapped out the GPU and PSU for better parts. As for overclocking, that seems way out of my league-I'd rather not end up frying my CPU in an attempt to squeeze out a couple of % performance. As you say, my CPU is apparently already set for handling F-Zero. I'm just wondering what settings I need to use in order to maximize the emulators potential and get even the more demanding games to run at a solid frame rate. If OCing is truly the key to making all my Dolphin games run at their best, and if it's not too much of a complex process then I may end up doing it.

Overclocking is pretty safe nowadays. You really only need to watch your temperatures, make sure your voltage isn't too high (really, you can OC without even touching the voltage, if the OC is relatively small, 400MHz-ish for me) and make sure it doesn't crash when you boot it. Trust me, I had no idea what I was doing, and I've been OCed for over 6 months, no issues whatsoever.

Of course it's good enough for F-Zero. When you OC that is. The reason K models are seen as good around here is due to the fact that you can so easily OC them.

Sorry, like I said before earlier today, settings alone will only get you so far. Some games need an overclocked CPU for constant fullspeed in Dolphin. There's no way around it. F-Zero is one of those games.

smoothrunes Wrote:If OCing is truly the key to making all my Dolphin games run at their best

It is.

smoothrunes Wrote:and if it's not too much of a complex process

It isn't.

You know, you are on a forum with experienced members. Just ask for help if you're not certain about something with the overclocking processSmile
Hmm, OK, thanks for reassuring me that OCing is not a complicated process. My next inquiries would be how do I go about starting the OC process, am I looking at any long term damage from OCing, what it is exactly that I need to increase, what signs do I need to look out for that I'm reaching the OC limit etc.
