Umm, wat. The widescreen hack in swiss just patches the FOV in the projection matrix... which is more or less the same as what Dolphin's widescreen hack does, except it does it as the values are passed to the hardware rather than at the time of them being calculated. The end result is the same.
The only reason swiss sometimes looks different from Dolphin is because it also patches the FOV in light projection matrices, which are used mostly for reflections and shadows.
tueidj: I was just reiterating what I had heard/glanced from. I need to stop pretending to know what I'm talking about when it comes to technical stuff. I wonder if it could be cleanly implemented in dolphin regardless (again, in the argument I heard it was decided no.)
A better widescreen hack would be neat though.
It would require a HLE implementation of C_MTXLightPerspective to be done "cleanly". I've heard arguments that it could cause memory corruption but in practice that should never happen (and practical usage seems to confirm it).
Considering how many games have severe problems with the current widescreen hack, I do think there would be some interest. The problem would be convincing the devs.
btw, the merge of PPC_FP fixed elevator collision in the second half of the game. Snake no longer jitters around like a moron.
Just upgraded from GT440 to GTX 650, no FPS boost in this game

. Guess Dolphin is mostly CPU dependant

.
If you had asked or read any guide to using Dolphin, you would have known that. Regardless, a GTX 650 will allow higher Internal Resolutions as well as be much better for PC gaming, so all is not lost.

Yes. Moreover MGS is a pretty demanding game

Well I didn't upgrade just for this game, just checked if it improved performance in emulation. Not sure about other emulators, as for PC games - yes, it improved the performace a lot.
Emulators are almost always CPU limited. That's just a rule of thumb.
