Miggedi

Hey guys, I am having a bit of a problem getting the game to run smoothly. Yeah, guess what, the audio is stuttering :/
Well, I tried different configurations after reading the wiki article and some posts in this thread. I tried different revisions of Dolphin as well, including the latest one. Nothing really fixed it so Im thinking that it might just be my hardware not being able to handle the game on Dolphin. So heres my question, will I be able to run the game smoothly with the following hardware and if yes how?

Operating System: Windows Vista x64
Processor/CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2,5 GHz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 120/2GB VRAM
Memory/RAM: Samsung 4GB

If more information is needed just tell me.
Thank you in advance Wink

No chance.

The sound stutters because you can't run the game full-speed
Been giving this game another try, and I got to the part where you have to fight 4 Genome Soldiers (that are using stealth) on the elevator.

Otacon warns you that the 4 guys are in there with you using his missing stealth suits via codec, and then when you exit the codec screen, you hear one of the guys say "Too late Snake, die" or something like that, but instead of the 4 guys being there, the elevator is empty, and I'm basically stuck here now.

Any idea how to get past this bug, or is this just a completely broken part inside Dolphin for now stopping you from completing the game?
Use xRyudo, use the thermal goggles to see the soldiers.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. Tongue

They never actually spawned. Whether you use Thermal Goggles or not, they're just not there. You're not being attacked in the elevator by them, you hear that one guy say Snake's going to die and that it's too late, but after that just nothing happens and you're endlessly stuck in the elevator with nobody but Snake.

I tried dying, reloading, even restarting the emulator, but nothing works.

This is really disappointing because everything else was pretty much flawless, so I'm hoping there's a way around it.

[Edit]
Strangely enough after reloading the same file 5 times again now they finally correctly spawned. No idea what was up with that.

[Edit 2]
Well, the game crashes in the Vulcan Raven boss (2nd time you fight him, so in the frozen hangar thing). Too bad that there's still gamebreaking issues like this. Sad - Fixed.
So is there no way to have proper widescreen resolution with this game? MGS2 which has same engine as TTS has widescreen hack in PCSX2 and it works flawlessly.

I did some searches but the results were inconclusive. Have you tried it? What happened?

Dolphin is not PCSX2. And the engine was heavily modified when the game moved between consoles; the PS2 and the GameCube have NOTHING in common.
I am aware Dolphin and PCSX2 aren't same duh and somehow I don't believe they'd go trough so much effort modifying MGS2 engine when all of the UI and mechanics are pretty much same. Platform change means nothing if it's port. AFAIK the widescreen hack is just cheat nothing specific to PCSX2.
What happens? Well either the game is stretched or left and right part of sreen is cut off.
Blackbird: The widescreen hack in PCSX2 works far differently. Now, I don't know the specifics being a developer on neither emulator, but this is what I understand.

PCSX2's widescreen hacks are an implementation of the swiss widescreen hacks and are extremely complicated to make and greatly modifies the way the graphics plugin works.

Dolphin's Widescreen hack is just a simple FOV change that doesn't really do anything for the game.

The Dolphin devs have no interest (currently at least) in modifying and hacking up their graphics plugin to make the games work in a way that was not intended. Perhaps a dev in the future would be interested in cleanly implementing something that could be merged, but for now I don't see that happening.
