It depends on the games indeed. Duel Transer and Rayman Origins are pretty "light" games whereas MHT is very demanding
The ironic thing is that my PC is not strong enough to play Rayman's PC version but it can play the Wii version , lol .

Because your GPU isn't good at all for PC games

I have this problem, but it only seems to get choppy when multiple enemies are on the screen.

I'm thinking specs aren't the issue. If there's a fix for it I'd love to have it.

You do have a problem..and it's not your hardware.
See my specs in my Sig, I'm running MHT in full speed 30 FPS (capped)
Would anyone know why I am getting random slowdowns?
Sometimes when i change zones/talk to someone my fps drops from 25 (it is capped there) to 2 and stays there.
It doesn't seem related to my hardware as I can play an area at 25fps, then later on go back to it and have the fps drop to 2. Restarting fixes the problem.
Thanks in advance
I get full speed everywhere even on my 5 year old Desktop lol

I even patched it to play the online quests. The game never gets boring
