I'm trying to set up my dolphin emulator PC for some shenanigans at work during a half-day.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to get consistent frames per second (or emulation speed) for mario kart double dash!!

My system is a fresh off the shelf gaming laptop running windows 8.1, 16gb ram, geforce gtx 970m 3gb graphics, with overclocked i7 4710HQ 2.5ghz multicore processor. It runs every modern game on ultra settings with no problems and great quality.

I seem to have inconsistent FPS in doubledash though, it fluctuates between 60fps and drops rapidly to 31 or so on most tracks in single player mode, which causes significant game slowdown.

Does anyone have a good setting / configuration for consistent 60 fps? I have tried using the following:

OpenGL
-->30fps

Native internal size (640x528)
no AA
anisotropic x1
postprocessing off
scaled efb copy
per pixel shading [seems to help?]
dual core enabled / disabled

D3D
--> 30-60 FPS wildly fluctuating with the same settings

I never adjusted the frame skipping in the emulation tab. Changing it from 0 to 1 netted me stable 61 fps at 4k resolution. Runs like a dream... now if only I can find a way to make smash bros melee stop stuttering randomly in matches.
You should make sure it's not using your Intel HD. Search the laptop performance guide on the forums, probably will help you out.
Hello, I am experiencing a minor sound issue when playing this game.  The issue is that certain sound effects, such as some, but not all of the characters' voices are very quiet and faint in comparison to the rest of the audio.  Is this a known issue with this game?  Any audio settings (in-game or otherwise) that may help solve the problem?  Thanks in advance!
If I'm not mistaken, you need to use a development version and not a 5.0 RC if you want the audio to work correctly with HLE. The Zelda HLE audio rewrite was added after the feature freeze for 5.0.

OK, perhaps I will try that.  As you probably read in my title, I am rather lazy with Dolphin build updates, so obviously that means I don't change builds very often, hence why I may encounter more of these sorts of issues despite them having already been dealt with in a recent build.  Thank you for the advice!

Edit: I tried updating to a new development version and the audio sounds fine!  Thank you for the tip!
i have trouble with the triggers L & R. When i playing Double Dash only the L-Trigger is working. I have looked into the Controller Settings and tested it on other games, its working every but not in Double Dash!

Is this a known problem? I use Dolphin 4.0-5770. Should i update on the newest Version? Thanks Guys for your Work! Smile
for whatever reason mario kart does not recognize the player 2. i tried switching them to where the keyboard is player 1 and controller is player 2 (and vise versa) but mario kart doesnt let the player 2 do anything. dolphin does recognize both the controller and the keyboard. i'm using dolphin 4.0.1 anyone know what's wrong?
You probably didn't set a second controller to be plugged in.
yup that was it thank you.

hey guys, hope you can help.

I have 2 PAL gamecube systems, both with a BBA and I have no problem playing 8player mariokart with them.

However I can't get dolphin to work in lan mode with a gamecube on the same network, it searches and they just never find eachother. I find it difficult believe this wasn't tested when BBA support was implemented given how common this use case would be, I hope someone else has tried this and can point me in the right direction.

Yes I have installed openvpn correctly, yes I have the correct iso, yes the game runs correctly when not in lan mode, yes I have updated my drivers, no dolphin does not crash when searching in LAN mode and so on. Other things I have tried:
1) Using 4.0.2stable, 4.0-8501, 4.0-7161 (all of which work in normal play)
2) Rebooting
3) Crossover cable, different patch leads, isolated switch network
4) Different gamecube
5) 50hz
6) Another PC (i5 3570 @ 3.4ghz, 8gb Corsair 1866, GTX 760)
