You must have played some very lightweight games. Hardware requirements for dolphin range from weak to strong depending on the game that you're playing. You can't expect every game to run perfectly just because the games that you tried so far ran well. Your cpu is extremely weak by dolphin's standards. You should be having severe performance issues with most games.

Thank you for explaining that to me. Mostly I've been running Mario Party perfectly however Paper Mario seems to "decently" work. All in all I plan to add 4GB of RAM to my computer soon in hopes that it helps in some way, if not in dolphin in my other programs I run. Do you know if this improvement will help? I understand CPU an RAM are to different things however--
With Dolphin, your GPU (used for Internal Resolution and Anti-Aliasing and such) and your CPU (everything else Dolphin does, more or less) play the biggest roles in terms of which components affect Dolphin performance. Unless you're running out of RAM while running Dolphin, it's incredibly unlikely that adding more RAM will increase performance, least of all in any significant quantity. For other programs, you may well see a noticeable boost in speed, but not from Dolphin, especially when 4GB of RAM is currently more than enough (by a lot) for Dolphin.

If the GPU is not bottlenecking Dolphin's performance for your graphical settings, usually the solution is to overclock the CPUs or buy new hardware in order to get better results. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get more RAM (you may need it for other programs) just that it won't do a whole lot for Dolphin in place of upgrading other components.

So what hardware should I buy? I mean I'm no expert but I don't think I can just upgrade my CPU without replacing the entire laptop. As for GPU I have never heard of it at all, or where it's located for that matter. Also you're right I need more RAM for other things I was just on an optimism route in hopes that it would help, but no I'm not running out of RAM when I run Dolphin.

Also sorry for dragging this question on for so long. I really do appreciate the help.
Yeah, if you want better performance with a laptop, often that means getting new hardware. A stronger CPU will generally run Dolphin faster (when the GPU is not bottlenecking the system), and a stronger GPU lets you raise your graphical settings higher without taking a performance hit. I've seen at least one member here actually replace the CPU in his laptop (don't remember the CPU or laptop model though), however, it's not always possible given some laptops.

If you ever upgrade your laptop, you can tell us which specific games you want to play, and we can tell you if that laptop will perform well.

As much as I'd LOVE to have an Alienware and fully upgrade it I don't have the money, and this one is brand new so upgrading is definitely out of the question. New components maybe but I'm really scared I'll screw something up. All in all I'd like to be able to play most ISO's on here but seeing as I can't I'll attempt on my wii and if that doesn't work then I can always but the game from gamestop. Tongue
buying a laptop to game is generally a bad idea. i would buy a low end laptop for work / study and a Regular desktop for Emulation , Pc game, Heavy workload
I've noticed the "free" cam is not truly free. It appears to have predetermined angles that are snapped to. Is there a way to get completely free camera movement? If not, it's not a big deal as I can just use a controller, but it would be nice to try using a keyboard/mouse setup.

Hey guys,
I have an issue with Wind waker. I don't know if any of you had this problem before.
When I open a chest or get anything important in the game there is that music and the blue text box that comes out telling what was got.
But I can't make this blue box go out. The emulator simply stops getting any input. The item I get continues spinning, the frames per second, the music, everything continues. The emulator does not stop, but stops receiving any input.
I tried with keyboard, mouse, Wii remote. I tried to disable sound, limit FPS. I don't know how to solve this issue.

Has anybody ever seen something like this?

Please tell me if you know how I could proceed.

Thanks
What are your settings? DSP LLE or HLE? Have you tried enabling the "item hang patch"? Stop using -367 either use 3.5 stable or the latest from the official download page, -1155 as of writing.

Edit: Also fill in your specs better. "Radeon HD Graphics" isn't a graphics card it doesn't let anybody know what you have. Likewise "AMD 2.5 Ghz dual core" doesn't tell anybody much of anything.
