A favorite build is not, and should not be considered a recommended build.
A recommended build is a build that has been agreed on to work best for the majority of the users and makes the game work properly.

We've had several threads where people were suggesting the same builds over and over because that worked best for that particular game, should 3.0 or the latest GIT not suffice.

Also, it's not like every setting has an impact on the actual emulation.
The most important ones that are of influence are:
Dual Core
JIT, JITIL
HLE/LLE
EFB Copies to RAM/Texture
Texture Cache

Quote:Plus, all the game threads were just recommending 3.0 anyway
Yeah, Mavericks threads do so. Depending on the necessity, I'm guessing he's waiting for people to contribute and mention a recommended build.
Same for my threads. I did mention every build that will help with performance or issues in the The Last Story thread.
The 3.0 there was just a placeholder until someone mentioned a build.
Tales of Symphonia, on the other hand, works perfect from beginning to end with 3.0, so I recommended that until 4.0 comes and passes the tests.
I'm not really waiting for anything other then the 4.0 release. All game threads I have made with 3.0 as recommended build/release have been completed satisfyingly very well with 3.0
So in my case 3.0 isn't/wasn't a placeholder and as every game works and have been completed with 3.0 I saw no reason suggesting anything else. If I have been able to complete the games with 3.0 so should anyone else even with my "inconvenient" settings.

"Tales of Symphonia, on the other hand, works perfect from beginning to end with 3.0, so I recommended that until 4.0 comes and passes the tests."

Replace that game with my entire list and we're on the same page.
Just popping in to say I like the idea delroth, and it'd be great if such a setup could be achieved. I should get back to contributing to the wiki too; a few games need some updates.
I think that is it a good idea Big Grin
Let's make a poll
I don't think we really need a poll, everyone seems to agree on the idea. I'll start implementing it today. Don't know when I'll be done, this might take some time.

In the meantime, try to reach a decision about recommanded builds Tongue
+1 for the idea
-1 for recommending specific builds (no matter if it's subjective or objective Tongue). Unless there's a specific reason to use older builds ofc (speed should not be one).
Regarding to the test entries issue, the wiki pages are cleaner now... I updated the testing templates and now all test entries are hidden by default and shown only when the viewer click in "Show" button...
I've seen your changes Jhonn, nice job. It really helps in the popular pages.

Hmm. On the wiki, if a problem is solved by a revision or a setting combination, it will list it in the problem details. Something like this:

Imaginary Wiki Article Wrote:As of 3.0-538, character's heads will explode at random on all graphics backends. There is no solution for current revisions, so to fix this error use 3.0-537 or earlier with Idle Skipping disabled.

I used this a lot on the various Zcomploc changes. So yea, we already have a method of addressing stuff like that.
