Tried settings for best speed? (
http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-settings-for-best-speed-unofficial )
Your system is probably a bit weak for this game. If you wanna play other demanding games upgrading is a good decision indeed.
Which games do you plan to play?
I still get raspy sound during the opening movie right before the start screen and that movie has bad interlacing issues as well. Even tho I get a full 60 fps through it with HLE. The build I am using should have have the AX-HLE stuff in it as that branch was merged to the offical branch right after 3.5.\
Edit: Ok this is really annoying after playing for a few hours the audio starts sounding robotic and yet my FPS is staying a constant 60FPS.
Hey guys,
im looking for someone who can take my ToS Savegame, play it for about
1minute, then there should be the cd switch to disc 2, do this, and give
me back the disc 2 savegame
I have no clue why, but my game just freezes when the disk switch should come up, it just drops to 0 fps.
the saves are from the EU Version of the game!
the stateSave is 1 a click from the disc switch
the savegame is about 30sec running and 1-2mins video away from the disc switch.
http://filebeam.com/342c79311c6fe05d6fbd2a91a83f006d
Game ID is "GQSPAF", and if anyone has a idea i could test to get the
switch myself working would be great to.
The error message for the disc switch problem is in my opinion the
following, but im not sure, its from the console and the only thing
which looks like an error.
N[OSREPORT]: DVDChangeDiskAsync(): You can't specify NULL to company name.
N[OSREPORT]: in "dvd.c" on line 2868.

Your save file was corrupt, but no worries, I've fixed it and done as you said.
There was some story going on after switching the CD, but I've created a savestate there, which you'll hopefully be able to load to follow the story.
You can download the .rar with both the memory card and savestate
here.
Make sure to use Dolphin 3.5 for the savestate, otherwise it won't work.
Edit: Just some quick tips regarding your settings.
Quote:Framelimit Off/Auto, i use booth, if i just run around, i used to play without framelimit.
This is what might've prevented you from switching to the 2nd disc. Always have a framelimit, otherwise things will be really unstable.
Set it to auto, and just hold down TAB (on your keyboard) ingame if you want to temporarily unlimit your framelimit.
Quote:Internal Res: 1x Native
Depending on your exact GPU model, you can set this to 3x or 4x for a much better image quality.
Quote:Anisotropic: 1x
Set this to 16x for better distant textures. (No performance loss)

Not even 30 minutes and it works, just wow!
Thank you!!
The savestate does however not load with 3.5 x64 Dolphin, but i will just ask my friend what happens there, so this is not a problem!
could you maybe tell me what was corrupt and how you fix it? im just curious.
i started to play the game with 3.0 there was no tab

and i used to play without sound/framelimit a lot cause sound glitched so often...
But since this is fixed with 3.5 mostly i will play with auto.

Are you certain? Make sure you atleast load a savegame before you attempt to load the savestate. It works perfect on my end.

If you try to load your previous memorycard, your savegame shouldn't be there. That's because when you were saving, it got corrupted somehow.
The fix is actually really simple.
Here's how you do it:
- Open up the Memcard Manager (GC) [Tools -> Memcard Manager (GC)]
- Load up your memorycard
- Export the savegame to GCI
- Edit the GCI file with your favorite text-editor (I use and recommend Notepad++)
So far, the problem was found at the (beginning) header of the file.
Take note of the first 15~20 characters.
In your corrupted file, this is what it says:
' Wrote:NULNULNULNULNULNULÿSTXTOS_000
All you have to do is simply edit the NULs to the appropriate gameID. So in this case the following is correct:
' Wrote:GQSPAFÿSTXTOS_000
Save the file, import it back to the memorycard and your savegames should be visible again.
Quote:i started to play the game with 3.0 there was no tab
It was there. Make sure you have the focus on Dolphin. (Alt-tab in and out to make sure)

The sound is messed up with the HLE back-end, but rest assured, Delroth comes to the rescue.
He's been working on fixing the HLE back-end, focusing on the Gamecube titles atm.
HLE works really well with Tales of Symphonia from what I've tried so far.
You can download the new-ax-hle builds
here.
Otherwise you'll have to use LLE for perfect sound, albeit at a loss of speed, which I'm sure you'll definitely notice.
With 3.5 the sound works fine! Awesome work there i must say.
im loaded the game and tryed the savestate, dolphin just stops working, but its not a big deal... i think i missed about 1-3min story?
i think 1-3min story vs. cant play disc 2 is a pretty good deal!
i must say im a bit baffled why kratos is in the city and also in her house but whatever...
maybe i find a lets play on youtube or something so i can watch the scenes.

Oh, I forget!
I'm using the LLE back-end, and therefore it won't be compatible with the HLE back-end.
I'll make a savestate with the HLE back-end and update this post with the save.
I don't want you to miss a single thing of this amazing game.
Alright, that should do it!
Here you go. Make sure you boot up disc 2 and load the savestate.

Hmm thanks again...
Funny things happen around here

1) i already thought you may used LLE and switched it already with the old savestate.
2) The new save state also crashes
3) the new savestate dos not crash in dolphin 3.0!
im watching the scenes now in dolphin 3 and play the game afterwards on 3.5

Thanks for all the effort!
//Edit:
3.5 just comes with nice error messages

just got a popup about some error (0x3f) and the nice note "Dolphin will no likely crash or hang. Enjoy."
its nice when you can laugh even over errors

AND if you press okay and the games just works like before without crashing, its even better
I would like report that the game crashes at Volts Tower AKA Tower of Lightning. When you move Lloyd down where you swap out different colored electricity with the Sorcerer's Ring, Dolphin crashes immediately. But you can move around the rest of the dungeon just fine, only when you descend the stairs does it crash.
Using Dolphin 3.5 x64 official and not a beta build.
Tales of Symphonia NTSC-U
Anyone have any insight as to why it crashes in this part of the dungeon? I'm asking in behalf of my brother, whose laptop is more than powerful to run the game (60fps all the time, so it's not his laptop). Again, it crashes at the same location as soon as you go down the stairs to change the sorcerer's ring. Since I can't report this in the Games section, I'll do it here.
