You can do this both in and out of battle, I believe through the tech menu.

Thanks for your help!

Hello, I've been having a few issues with Tales of Symphonia that aren't *that* major, but I would appreciate a fix if any are out there.

Text Boxes

Text boxes have missing spaces and extra lines around them with Forced Texture Filtering on, is there any way to keep Forced Texture Filtering on and have normal text boxes? I prefer to keep it on since it smooths out the characters, walls, and pots in Triet.

Box Fire in WideScreen

Fire appears chunky distorted and blocky when using the WideScreen hack. The fix for this on the Tales of Symphonia page causes my game to freeze on startup with no error message, are there any other fixes around?

Sadly no picture of this one, but hopefully the description is good enough.

Double Vision + Pixel heat effect

The double vision effect goes away completely after using the code on the Tales of Symphonia page, except for in Triet. I am seeing the double vision effect as well as a pixelated heat effect; is there any fix for this issue. Putting the projection hack in the config file does nothing for this. (Again this *Only* effects Triet, elsewhere the fix on the page works perfectly)

I searched all throughout this thread and found no fixes that worked for me.

Noah16 use this gecko code to fix the fire instead.

No Triet Heat Effects:

Thankyou so much, I really appreciate this, it was a bit unbearable to play with the heat effects. Now if only someone comes along with a fix for the text boxes; then the game will run 100% perfect. Also, I loaded up disc2 just to see if there were any texture distortions, and it is incredibly laggy on the start screen, anybody have any ideas?

Edit: That Widescreen hack makes the world map and compass still not become widescreen, so that presents a bigger issue. Are there any other known fixes for that? Like for instance the world map is shifted left and the compass is shifted right, and the marker that shows up to tell you where you are in the world is misplaced.
Why do system requirements fluctuate during the FMV that plays after beginning emulation and answering the "Memory card is not formated" message? The FMV that showcases all the characters and stuff (After the company logos). It's an FMV right? If the video starts off without performance issues than the whole video should play without performance issues right? Unless I misunderstood how video files and video players work (I guess variable bitrate of the video/audio content may have something to do with it?)...

It always suffers from frame rate issues and audio stuttering at the same spots each time I play through the FMV.
You have to go into configuration/advanced and up the emulated CPU clock. Dolphin's emulated CPU is lagging, not your CPU. It's due to cycle inaccuracies.

Interesting, this was bugging me for a fairly long time now so it's good to see there is a way to get it to play correctly! Has there been any reports of overclocking the CPU breaking the gameplay in this specific game? And I dunno what a reasonable overclock would be, it seems around 125% is needed to get the FMV's to play correctly though.

Edit: I see, this game lacks a frame rate limiter so overclocking the CPU speeds up the gameplay, so I either have great video performance and super fast gameplay or normal speed gameplay and the videos crapping out periodically.
If you set the framelimiter to auto, it should work fine. The game still has a framelimiter. I played through the whooooooooole game at 134% and had no issues.
I do not see a Frame Limiter option in Dolphin. There is Frame Skipping and Speed Limit though. It's possible I just never experienced the game at a smooth 60FPS before, so it may have been performing slower than it should've been even during the gameplay (without the overclock) without me realizing the gameplay wasn't at 100% and now, with the overclock, I'm finally experiencing the game at normal speed and it just "feels" too fast even though it is now playing at the correct speed.
