I believe I talked about this before in the GD forum, responding to the exact same problem :3
For a couple of games, I don't see why not. However, people have to communicate which settings are "recommended". We don't have the time to parse the thread and look into every issue ourselves (nor do all of us have the games :p) but giving us the settings speeds up the process.
Ideally, you'd just make a new post that exactly follows the template for game threads, that way we can just copy + paste it. Furthermore, to avoid any confusion from people who do read the first page and see people talking about setting from the old posts (things like Optimize Quarternizers or whatever, Zelda TLB hack), it should be quite apparent that the first post has been updated. Something like a disclaimer.
Ultimately though, I would much prefer this effort go towards the Dolphin Wiki. Forum threads like these are not suited to being updated as frequently as wiki entries. If we had a team dedicated to making the wiki as accurate as possible, that would be much more useful to the community.
Yeah a couple of games is perfectly fine, it's usually the super popular games that gets most of the attention anyway and we all know which games that is.

I disagree. The forums are much more visited than the wiki and are just as suitable as a wiki.
We just need an active person that creates the first post and is able to keep it up to date.

MaJoR, Jhonn and Kolano are big contributers to the wiki. Big thanks to these men for keeping it up to date and clean of spammers.
I also try to keep things up to date if needed and if I have personally verified it.
But lately I can't find the time for it.
I second the idea to have the first post of a thread have the most recent updates/settings, etc for a game.
Just to break the ice, what do you guys think of this???
New Super Mario Bros. Wii

About the game
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (New スーパーマリオブラザーズ Wii Nyū Sūpā Mario Burazāzu Wī?) is a 2009 side-scrolling platform video game published and developed by Nintendo for the Wii video game console. The game was released on November 11, 2009 in Australia, November 15, 2009 in North America, November 20, 2009 in Europe and December 3, 2009 in Japan. It is the first game in the Mario main series since the Mario Bros. arcade game to feature simultaneous multiplayer gameplay, and the first title to include Nintendo's new 'Super Guide' feature. To highlight the uniqueness of the title, Nintendo chose to use a red keep case instead of the traditional white.
The game’s plot is similar to those of other side-scrolling Mario games. New Super Mario Bros. Wii follows Mario as he fights his way through Bowser’s henchmen to rescue Princess Peach. Mario has access to several power-ups that help him complete his quest, including the Ice Flower, the Fire Flower, and the Starman, each giving him unique abilities. While traveling through up to nine worlds with a total of 80 levels, Mario must defeat Bowser's children (the Koopalings and Bowser Jr.), Kamek, and Bowser himself before finally saving Princess Peach.

Emulation Status & Speed
- What works: Pretty much everything
- What does not work:
1. Coins won't spin if EFB Copy to Texture is enabled
2. Blue coins are invisible unless EFB Copy to RAM is enabled
For more detailed information refer to the wiki
- Region differences: Shouldn't be any regional differences of importance
- Emulation Speed: Should work well with most setups since it's not the most demanding Wii game. For more detailed information refer to the wiki

*Note: If the game is running slow use EFB to Texture instead of RAM and HLE emulation instead of LLE recompiler to increase performance.

Nicely done, although the back cover isnt necessary
The last word goes to Shonumi now

.
More seriously if we update threads we should post in threads themselves and PM Shonumi to submit him. If he doesn't like it the post will stay in there anyway
Yep it's on Shonumi now
If he approves then we can start posting similar layups in the game threads.
That's a good start.
There are some adjustments you could make though.
Here are a few
- Bold the headers so that it's easier to spot when you scroll through.
- Add lists as they're easier to read and follow.
- Try to only add the subsections e.g. "what doesn't work", if the game has issues.
- Link to the wiki when you refer to it.
- Post only (screenshots, text) relevant settings to change.
- Have a consistent and clean layout.
What do you think of adding an incompatiblity list of Dolphin builds to the post?
It should only be added if needed ofcourse, should a build somehow break a game.

This is excellent, now we're working like a team here.
If we put some effort to things, this could turn out to be really nice!
I'll adjust to what you have suggested.
