Its not about brands,its about speed. Intel simply has faster processors,and it doesnt seem like this will change any time soon.
If you are happy with your AMD cpu,thats only because you haven't tried any demanding games in dolphin.
Pretty much any game which needs LLE sound,such as for gamecube: Skies of Arcadia,Tales of Symphonia and SMG1 or 2 for wii
Some games are just demanding no metter what sound beckend you use such as Last Story.

Okay, tried out skies of arcadia.
Where am I supposed to expect high stress of the CPU and loss of FPS?
Still running at 98% speed and average 29fps.

HLE is the one you're using , not LLE backend

If you enable LLE backend via dolphin , you will take huge performance hit with every game (especially on non core i series CPU)

On games that support it you mean?
Nope. Barely any change at all with my Llano.
Then again, I can run FSX smoothly. It would be ridiculous if my computer had trouble with dolphin and not FSX.
Guess I'm lucky

FSX ? Microsoft Flight Simulator X ? PC game ?
PC gaming -> GPU power
Emulation -> CPU power
There is no way on earth you can compare pc gaming to emulation .Those two are completely different

LLE will work with any GC game , any Wii game . LLE will fix audio issues , (Dolphin) freezing issues for some games , most games don't need it

You shouldn't be able to even play opening movie of Skies Of Arcadia at decent/playble speed with Llano cpu.
You are using LLE for sound,right ?
Without it,Skies of Arcadia will have a lot of missing and incorrect sounds to the point its better to completely disable sound then to use HLE.
With LLE,sound is fine,but it is demanding on cpu

There is no way on earth you can compare a simulator to a game.
Specially an aircraft simulator, you must not understand how simulators use hardware. FSX is almost entirely CPU intensive. Your CPU speed must be at least 4GHZ to use the simulator with consistent FPS and full payware.
It's funny because Dolphin barely uses 47% of my cpu during emulation. Just 60% with LLE. Oh but can you explain by Twilight Princess wouldn't allow LLE on 3.0 and latest revisions?
I'm sorry if you are dissappointed guys.. but you do NOT need i5's or i7's to run an application such as Dolphin. It is not that demanding, and that isn't a bad thing at all.. I don't understand why you guys are acting like it is a negative thing that Dolphin can be run on ''low end'' processors.
LOL you are funny..it would be great if dolphin could run ALL GAMES on "low end " processors..its just not the case.
Dolphin only use 2 cores,3 if you use LLE. Thats why you never can see 100% usage on quad cpu,even if dolphin need cpu power.
Have you tested Skies of Arcadia ? You shouldnt get playable speed with your cpu in the opening animation.
Also,I agree FSX is cpu intensive..but some games on emulators are even more intensive on cpu then FSX
*Looks at specs* "AMD 3670K 3.30Ghz" lol wut

...Yeah no. There is nothing more horribly coded than FSX when it comes to software utilizing CPU resources, so in no way would Dolphin be more cpu intensive than FSX.

Overclocked, obviously.
