Its not lol, its spongebob battle for bikini bottom, Idk, Im pretty sure my cpu can handle this but i was told that the amd fx series is not good for emulation so is that my problem?

Settings?

It most likely is the fx 6100s fault but let's make sure.

Quote:I was wondering if there were any good am3+ socket cpus that are good for emulation, I know my current amd fx-6100 isn't Thanks in advanced

Edit: Here are all the cpus my motherboard supports:AMD AM3+ FX™/Phenom™ II/Athlon™ II/Sempron™ 100 Series Processors
Supports AM3+ 32 nm CPU
Supports CPU up to 8 cores
Supports CPU up to 140 W
AMD Cool 'n' Quiet™ Technology

That depends on your definition of "good". "Good" is subjective. How good is good for you?

Give us some specific requirements.

Quote:So any suggestions on the best cpu out of those for like 100-150 maybe a little more.

There aren't any cpus in that price range for AM3+ that are significantly better than what you have now.

Quote:_Buy Phenom II x 4 965 (Much better IPC perfomance than the fx-6100 -> Huge improvement for Dolphin)

Not sure I would say it's a huge improvement, maybe 20% at the most. I'm going guess more around 15%.

Quote:Ok thank you very much, Ill look into that Phenom and the 8350 see which one i will get

The FX 8350 will give you better results but:
1. Will cost more
2. Consume more power

Quote:I'd try different CPU affinity setups. CPU 0/2, 0/2/4 (1 thread per module) or CPU 0/1 (higher turbo speed).

Dolphin already handles the thread affinity perfectly with lock threads to cores. And if his OS is up to date it will handle it properly even without lock threads to cores.

Quote:Up to 20% in synthetics with 1 thread per module but its only giving up 300MHZ to do that. FX 6100 loses 600MHZ with no turbo so it could either way here.

It's around 10% for the vast majority of applications. You're either going to get the same speed (due to lower turbo) or slightly faster. Like Axxer said it's not going to make a big difference.
I should suggest FX-4300 instead of Phenom II x4 965 though i'm not so sure
If he want to keep that AM3+ mobo , he will have to get FX-8350 for the best result . Meh , if i was him , i would sell that mobo , buy i5 3570k + Z77 or i5 3470 + Asrock Z77 and never going back but this is just my opinion
I would agree. I don't think he's going to be happy with any upgrade for his platform. The most he could expect to gain is 30% at the absolute most from a $220 upgrade (FX-8350).
