It also depends on the shop and their special offers. I'm fairly sure scan, where I get my parts from (when I'm not stupid enough to buy a dell), once had a sale on the 2500k which brought it cheaper than the 2500.
And very unlikely.

By "modern games" I suppose you mean "PC games". Yeah this processor is great for PC games. And this processor is great for Dolphin too. But compared to PC games Dolphin is much more CPU dependent that's why some really demanding games will require an overclock. And don't forget you eventually have to deal with LLE too

yep, i mean pc games. what are LLE? when my pc will arrive i'll read more about dolphin and its setting

LLE/HLE are DSP. Sound is emulated thanks to this.
To simplify if you want good sound you'll have to use LLE. But a powerful CPU is required. Games have to run full speed (or close to) to get LLE to work correctly.
HLE is less CPU demanding but you'll quickly notice sound issues. Some games (a lot of games actually) have no sound or almost no sound without LLE. Moreover some games need LLE to work properly, not only for the sound

Sorry for being picky, but I'm going to correct you Big Grin

LLE and HLE are initialisms (no, they aren't acronyms, not unless you pronounce them :p) for Low Level Emulation and High Level Emulation respectively. They are different approaches to emulation. Low Level Emulation focuses on emulating things down to the hardware level, e.g. how a piece of hardware would run instructions, interact with memory, and use its registers. High Level Emulation focuses on reproducing overall functionality and output but it isn't necessarily concerned with the details mentioned above. In the case of the DSP, HLE would process audio as soon as the CPU communicates the data's location in memory, but LLE demands that the DSP performs all of the calculations that would be done on real hardware. Other things in Dolphin use HLE like the GC BIOS, which is why you don't need to dump those from your console.

For a better explanation, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-level_emulation

Also, the DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor, it's a co-processor in the GC/Wii. This is responsible for the audio on real hardware, and its emulated counterpart is responsible for audio on Dolphin.
For those of you not technically inclined, LLE (Low Level Emulation) in Dolphin generally refers to the LLE implementation of the audio processor in the Wii. HLE (High Level Emulation) in Dolphin generally refers to the HLE implementation of the audio processor in the Wii. This does not, however, mean HLE and LLE are a type of audio.
U choose the right CPU, dont worry.

Get comfort with overclocking and get the maximum power out of your CPU.

I hope u alrdy bought a CPU cooler! So u'ld be ready for overclocking alrdy.

I'm using this cpu with a Prolimatech Megahalem Black edition and can reach 4,7ghz while getting a max temp of 85°C... (prime fpu test ofc, never reaching that temps while normal usage)

But im running a stable 4,5ghz setup at max 78°C.

So its up to you... Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 as example will need a lil overclock. Tongue
That was painful to read.
