What would you use it for? The pointer is IR regardless of whether you use motion + or not.
In Skyward Sword the pointer is actually not IR. It uses Motion + to give it a place on the screen.

And I'm asking whether or not there is a mode app that works like the pointer in Skyward Sword.
Not that I know of, but I doubt it would be any more precise than the IR pointer. I remember having a hard time aiming at big targets in skyward sword.
Skyward Sword's targeting system worked very well for me at least.
