This for sure. Xubuntu is completely destroying Windows 8 in every category for me right now except breadth of software available (most of which I don't really want or need except DirectX). For my gaming purposes (mostly emulators), 7 all the way.

Windows 8 now is Hybrid (a tablet-like interface and the classic desktop interface). It's a lot confusing, but proves to be very userful when you get used to...

I'll wait for Windows 8 to come out so I can get Windows 7 OEM for less than it is now (hopefully).

Didn't Windows Vista and Windows XP become cheaper when Windows 7 came out? They were available at my local store in OEM form for cheaper iirc. Maybe it was only vista.
