Quote:i'm still confused on the PSU usage though. i understand that during most moments, the gpu won't be using 400w or whatever. but combine an HDD, 55w CPU and a dedicated GPU that says 400minimum watt PSU, how can a 300w PSU handle all of those during peak power?

Consumers are dumb. They won't accept "it depends" as an answer even though it's the correct answer. So these companies have to make up a meaningless magic number to slap on the box. The power supply requirement listed on the box is estimate based on what they consider a "typical PC" with "average parts". It's really oriented more towards high end gaming PCs though and is extremely conservative. Use a power calculator instead to calculate your power requirements.

Quoted for truth.
This is pretty much what I meant when I said "typical usage will see much less wattage."

Yeah, older cards (4 years+) don't suport sound through HDMI.

Also, I must agree, Nvidia have much better drivers in terms of Dolphin performance.
But some people prefer AMD and I want to keep my bases covered.
I would steer clear of the rosewill case. It's poorly rated....and....well...it's rosewill.....they don't exactly have the best reputation (and yes I realize that rosewill is neweggs brand).

Whichever one you use is a matter of preference.

*cough* drivers causing shitty dolphin performance *cough*

explain?

AMD's drivers for the 7000 series have severe performance issues in dolphin,
which I conveniently forgot to mention.
Undecided

I honestly don't really know.

This is a great HTPC case:

Antec also make very good PSUs.

A cheaper Antec case:

Yes. All of the other ones recommended so far look fine (although I admit I did only skim them briefly).

Product Ratings: They exist for a reason

So that we don't have to exert any effort what so ever when doing product research.
Alright.
Make your decision, I'm going to sleep.

Be back with you Friday.
(College and whatnot.)
Yeah I'm actually going to hit the bed in about 3 minutes as well.

It would help if we had specific size constraints. Also what is your budget?

Edit: Oh wait you said it at the beginning of the thread. Under 500. That's usually the kind of info. you should have in the first post.

Both of these are really well rated HTPC cases. They cost quite the premium and don't come with any power supply but they are worth every penny in convenience in my opinion.
