Playing with HLE fix patch?
(10-11-2012, 01:59 AM)Garteal Wrote: [ -> ]Xenoblade is only a 30FPS game, and doesn't need a SB CPU at 4GHz for HLE or LLE.
I've beaten the whole game at stock clocks at fullspeed most of the time.
There are some stutterings here and there in battles when the shader cache gets generated.
But that only happens for a split-second.
Depends which processor you've got

How did it run on your end?
The game ran perfectly, on my Wii. Best 90+ hours I've spent on an RPG in a long time. I've never had a first playthrough that long before :p
I haven't started dumping my Wii collection just yet. But it looks like the 4.0 GHz was just a number thrown around by people who couldn't verify it for themselves. What about SMG2 on LLE? What's the minimum OC you've found to give you constant fullspeed. I've already experimented with a little OCing myself, just need to get the games that need them.

Surprisingly no. I was using build 7714 or so when I played.

Yeah, that's why I explicitly mentioned the Sandy Bridge codename.

Oh lol. I'm glad to read that the terrible IR didn't ruin your experience. And same here best 80 hours.

Looks like you either grinded like a madman or got lost.

Unfortunately I haven't really played SMG2 yet. But I did mention (iirc) that stock clocks should be sufficient for fullspeed most of the time.
I'm aware that there are more demanding locations (as usual), but no one gave a clear answer as which they are.
If anyone could hint me as to which levels I should benchmark (provide me with a savegame) I'll be glad to do so.

I do find it strange that you're somehow able to reverse what's been common (and assumed correct) info about playing this game on LLE, but then again, half the people spreading the 3.8~4.0 GHz number had no way of clocking their CPUs high enough to verify those claims (that or they didn't have a Sandy Bridge CPU at all). I'll know more about this when I personally test it myself.
People seem to overestimate cpu speed needed for a lot of games, not only Xenoblade. Cpu speed for SMG2 is also usually inflated.
I dont know why they do this lol.
Maybe reason for this is that they underestimate gpu influence, and mistakenly thinks its their cpu slowing them down, while its not.
I have tested the xenoblade with settings similiar to speedscrams speed settings. Have I used different, more "normal" settings ( mostly related to gpu such as increased IR or AA ) I would get lower fps.
And I have 460 gtx, which althrough is not high end top of the line card,is certanly not weak gpu.
So bottom line,if you want to test which speed you can get on which cpu,you certanly have to take gpu out of account by lowering all gpu related options to minimum
Here are for example same screenshoots with 3x IR and 4xAA:
As you can see it certanly goes below fullspeed in battles.
The main problem is that you have always seemed to have higher speed in things than others with similar specs and settings do.
@Anyoldname3 yeah I am suprised myself why people provide false info thats why I always post my results when I read it

You have similiar cpu to mine, why dont you provide some results so we can compare ?
As for SMG2,its also running fullspeed on my system, but only with "speed settings". With "normal settings" lowest I got is 85%.
So it seems dolphin is actually more gpu bound then cpu bound,or in other words,IF you have good cpu such as sandy bridge, dolphin will be gpu bound.

Tha depends on a lot of different factors, but he's if your CPU is powerful enough your GPU will be te bottleneck. My GPU is most often the bottleneck in my system.
Well when I was last on SMG (not SMG2) I was getting well below half speed with speed settings (except LLE + increased IR + maybe AA (but I doubt my GPU was the bottleneck, as I don't hit fullspeed at 1x IR with no AA)). You (rpglord, not Axxer) easily beat that with a similar CPU.
By the way your profile specs aren't filled out and your signature is gone.

I updated my profile

I didnt test SMG,but I doubt it performs very differently then SMG2
You cant use AA as it lowers perfomance significantly ( yeah I also get around 50% sometimes )
With disabled AA,1xIR and vbeam enabled you should be getting fullspeed in SMG2,unless something is wrong somewhere ( your pc,drivers, dolphin who knows )
If he plans on having sound he can't run it full speed.

Why not ? Did you look at the screenshot I provided ?
