Paradox

Hey all, I've got an issue with Skyward Sword, it only occurs after loading a save state. Once a save state has been loaded, when attempting to progress to another area in the game, the game will freeze (when the screen goes black as it is loading) and the audio will start to stutter forever (da-da-da-da-da-dam, etc, forever).

I've tried a bunch of different graphical configurations, including:
Changing the renderer
Changing the CPU emulator
Changing the Dual Core/Idle Skipping settings
Changing all of the hacks, enabling and disabling them one by one
Changing the DSP engine

None of these work, so I think the problem lies somewhere else.

I believe the problem is when loading a save state, the frame rate is lowered temporarily, which causes offsetting of the audio/video. Occasionally when loading a state, the audio overlaps itself in 2 or more threads, meaning I hear the song playing, and the song playing again but 3-5 seconds behind the first track. Once the Save State is loaded, there is no method I have found to correct the problem except for just not using Save States.

I am running Dolphin 3.0.766, i7 980 @3.33ghz, 24GB RAM, GTX 580@3GB, and Skyward Sword runs at a solid 30 FPS (when FPS locked).

If someone knows how to fix it, much appreciated.
The fix is to not use savestates.
Save rather in-game. This is the best solution Wink
Yeah, load up the save state, save in-game, exit dolphin then start it up again.
same problem here and save states are useful during hard boss fight and where you can't save
Yeah but they are unreliable so don't expect them to work 100% each time
I finished a lot of games with save states on Dolphin (including the other two zelda) yes sometimes it hang but there is definitely something with this game+savestates
It probably won't make a difference, but see if it works with a movie active.

In either case, i'll compile some builds tomorrow so we can figure out which revision caused this.
Someone test these (32 bit windows builds): https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11111638/skyward%20sword%20tests.7z

I'll give that build a test tonight when I get home.
