AnyOldName3 Wrote:When Gabriel Belmont changed from a 2600K to a 3770K, he said he got a 'big' speedup in dolphin, without overclocking either. Unless it was the placebo effect, I'm going to say Ivy is a it more than the 2% better for dolphin you said, especially as they were by the same user on an otherwise identical rig.

This just in: Man with no data makes ridiculous claims. More at 11.

Xalphenos Wrote:My point in all this is that you are saying NV's estimate of ~2% performance increase is wrong based on the comparison of two chips with dissimilar clocks. Of course Gabriel noticed a performance increase he was running a chip that was at least 200Mhz faster in addition to being ~2% faster per clock.

(3.9/3.7)-1= 5%

So a 7% total speedup assuming everything you wrote is correct. Not exactly a big speedup.

I would also like to point out that unless your system is having serious thermal issues temperature is not going to limit turbo boost. Something else is wrong with your system.
As promised about two weeks ago, I'm here! There was some fluctuation in these (the third one ranged from 79 to 83) and dolphin crashed twice while opening the second and third saves... but here we go:

Windows 8 x64
3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600 MHz

FPS: 62, 53, 79

I would like to add that I've been playing the game on this laptop (I'm at the Earth Temple now) and it has been playing flawlessly using one of the latest development versions (3.5 1318). There was only one instance in the whole game so far where the FPS dropped below 30FPS and that was during the Deku Tree scene with all the chu chu jelly were it dropped to about 10FPS and fluctuated dramatically from that to around 25 for most of that scene. I've been playing in 3x IR ... haven't bothered to try 4x since it looks good as it is now.

For all i5 & i7 users , Please use Realtemp to give us the correct clock speed of CPU when Dolphin is running (@Starscream , i think you should sticky this in the first post . AMD has turbo core feature . Coretemp can read AMD CPU , Realtemp can't)
i5 & i7 have turbo Boost feature that allow CPU clock speed go higher than stock speed
Your CPU turbo clock should be somewhere between 3.2 and 3.3GHz when Dolphin is running . There is no way that i7 would run at 2.4GHz unless your CPU is overheating or your laptop have hardware/software issues that interfere Turbo Boost

will i ?
Yes. And this is clearly the wrong thread to randomly ask that question in.
Does the benchmark spreadsheet get updated? If not is there any community-driven way of keeping track of these benchmarks? Maybe a wiki page which additions must be approved via the screenshot proof? Don't get me wrong I'm not being demanding, I wouldn't mind taking part in that myself if it doesn't exist already. Smile
Guess it's time to update the spreadsheet then. Contributions haven't been that great since I last updated so I kinda waited for people to contribute before I update.
Editing this post when I'm done.

Aaand... up to date as of the 21st of May.
Thanks Garteal.

Oh I didn't know it was just you, I can be impatient at times Blush
Somebody GOTTA bench it with Haswell and post the results to here ASAP, because Haswell CPU just came out today!
