Decent Linux support on the MBPR is not there yet. A number of things won't work, chiefly the Retina display and the Nvidia GPU. Some hardware stuff like Thunderbolt doesn't work either. Read all about what's wrong here. The MBPR is still fairly new, so I guess kernel devs and distro makers are working on it, or perhaps intend to eventually. It's currently more trouble than it's worth atm to try Linux on one though.

Windows 7 runs great on my MBP w/ Retina Display
We just have to wait a little bit, I'm pretty sure, that Linux will run on that great Mac

I guess I'll have to bootcamp it then. Time to get my university's free win7 copy then....
