Not really recommended. If you overclock too high, you can easily damage your CPU. For overclocking, a decent aftermarket CPU cooler + thermal compound is recommended Wink

How about the i7 3770k?

i7 3770k Specs: "Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo), LGA 1155, Quad-Core, 22 nm"

Can i do a safe OC on it with stockcooler?

Can i OC it to 4.0 GHz with no problems or can i oc it more and still not damage the cpu?

How about 4.2 Ghz, 4.4 GHz and 4.6 GHz? Can i do it without damage the cpu?
I thought you were smart. The stock CPU is not designed to keep the CPU cool enough to avoid damage except if the CPU is at stock clocks.

No more that 4.0

Thank you @ExtremeDude2 Smile

So 4.0 GHz is a safe OC, because it will just leave the turbo boost always ON, right, so i don't need to worry about the temperature?

Until how many degrees celsius, it is safe.

Edit: Hmm @Twisted Scorpio got 4.0 GHz with i5 3570k, then the i7 3770k can get 4.0 GHz easily right.

i5 3570k Specs: 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost)

4.0GHz is only safe if your case is well ventilated, in which case, turbo boost would stay on most of the time anyway.

Try to keep the temps below 80°C. They could go higher, but there's always going to be a pint where it gets hotter than it does normally, and this leaves plenty of headroom.
OC : Not beyond 4.0GHz
Temp : Not beyond 100°C

Guys I've a doubt.

I bought a CPU Cooler Hyper TX3 with 2 fans (1,750 rpm max, 3,570 rpm max).

I've my CPU 3570k overclocked to 4.2 Ghz with 1.200v.

Using DSP LLE + OnThread. Playing Super Mario Galaxy 1 I get full speed ofc, but my temperature is 60~68º C all the time, is this high?.
Those temps are safe and it seems about right. I recall a lot of people reporting similar temps after running Prime95 for a few hours with Ivy Bridge chips around that clock. Are those your idle temps or just the temps you get while playing? Either way, those look to be well within safe operating temps.
well
when i run prime95 my temps to over 75º C~80º C in less 10 seconds, I'll resetup my cooler including the thermal paste.
