Thanks admin89! Yeah I'm really on the fence right now. I'd like a performance boost right now, but don't want to completely break the bank, so maybe I'll just go with the 3720qm.

I know the 3720qm can't play The Last Story at full speed, but will the game at least be playable at decent settings? Also, how would Xenoblade be? As I said, right now with my 3610qm, I can run it very nicely at 3X res with texture mods. It only slows down during some cutscenes and big battles with lots of enemies. I'd love to play Xenoblade nicely at 4X res, and am hoping the 3720qm would let me do that.
I could guess...maybe...2-5 FPS+ on Xenoblade if you keep your CPU running at 3.5GHz

Your GPU whould be your limiter there, not your CPU

He will get better performance if he upgrade his CPU
Nvidia GTX 660M is good enough for 4x IR in most games and Nvidia GTX 680M is much faster than that
But the thing i'm not so sure

Thanks guys!

ExtremeDude2, I have a 680M and 3610qm right now, but when I go up from 3X res to 4X res, my FPS drops by around 30%. I know you said this is decided by the GPU, but I can't believe that my 680M isn't sufficient here. I am using the HLE hack version of Dolphin for Xenoblade. Maybe I need to tweak the settings some more?
It is a mobile GPU. It isn't as powerful as a desktop CPU in the same series. If you can't get 4x IR in Xenoblade it is because you GPU can't do it. Xenoblade, iirc, is a very graphically intense game so this makes sense.
It's got nothing to do with my 680M not being up to the task - Dolphin is apparently not using it! I just downloaded Nvidia inspector, after I started playing Xenoblade, the GPU load on my 680M was 0%!

Can someone please help me figure out why this is happening? I am using the HLE patched version of Dolphin for Xenoblade. Thanks so much!
So i assume you update the GPU driver , use Direct3D9 backend and this :

Try to select "Texture Cache : Safe "
What happens if you use 3x Ir? Is the 680m in use then?
I believe I have the latest driver, and I tried using the Nvidia control panel as shown above. When I use 3X IR, the game runs pretty ok, which is odd because the 680M isn't being used then either! I will play around with this tonight and let you guys know what happens. Thanks again!
