If you have a backup disc it can use the disc. I don't know I it works with the original disc in a compatible-for-dumping DVD drive though.
Disc is far worse. For any emulator except games that loads to RAM and only stream cd audio from disc. Even PSX games tend to have hiccups here and there, when it comes to newer drivers with hardcoded low spindown times game becomes unplayable.
