It didn't affect my computer running OS X Lion (MacBook Pro from early 2011). I just recently upgraded to mountain lion so I'll test it out. That'll limit it down to either an OS issue or a driver issue.

Well I've experienced the issue in Brawl, Melee, Twilight Princess, the Wind Waker, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Metroid: Other M, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Monster Hunter Tri... the list just keeps going! I'd be happy to provide screenshots if they'd be of any use.

I think we have plenty of those :3
Yes, I'm sure it's a problem with the drivers for your nVidia card. For example, when I run Twilight Princess on OS X, the characters all turn black at sunset. On Windows, though, they're fine. I have the 2012 non-retina MacBook Pro which has the same hardware as yours.

If you absolutely cannot get Windows on Boot Camp, then I recommend the following:

1. Get gfxCardStatus at http://gfx.io/ . This tool allows you to switch between the discrete GPU (nVidia), which activates automatically upon Dolphin starting, and the integrated Intel HD 4000.

2. Click on it (it's in the menu bar) and select "Force Integrated" (or something like that). You'll get a notification saying that "Intel HD 4000 is now in use".

3. Run Dolphin. The black texture glitch should be fixed.

Keep in mind that there is a certain performance penalty from doing this. Intel HD 4000 is quite powerful, but not on par with the Geforce GT 650M. But as an added bonus, you get more battery life Wink

By the way, I can confirm that this glitch happens with older Macs, on older OS's (10.6). I had a MacBook with nVidia GeForce 9400M, and the glitch was there. On an older MacBook with Intel GMA X1300, the game barely ran at 5FPS, but the glitch wasn't there![/align]

Hope this helps!

Nice finds Wink, but this is not true at all:

The Intel HD 4000 is no where near as powerful XD

Old thread, but using 10.8.4 beta fixes the problem.

Nvidia drivers are at version 310.20.00a08 now, was 300.xx in 10.8.3

PS: Been a while since I played around with dolphin, so if it was already fixed, sorry about the old thread revival!
FrancoisC, lighting issues in OS X using OpenGL should have been fixed with the GLSL-master merge sometime last month. I'm not familiar with the various issues Dolphin on OS X had, but since you're using one of the latest revisions, you're probably seeing the effects of recent changes in Dolphin rather than OS X. At least things are working for OS X users now. Big Grin
