I've been trying to get Mario Kart Wii to work with Dolphin. This is the first time I'm trying to use Dolphin; I just downloaded it yesterday, downloaded some things that my computer needed before it could work, installed the homebrew channel on my wii today and then used cleanrip to get an iso file of the game onto my sd card. For some reason it wouldn't work with a usb stick - it said the mounting failed and gave me an error code full of 0s.

I've got an iso file now called RMCP01 that takes up 3,868,248 KB which surprised me because I looked up the size of this game from two different sources and they both say that it should be 2.59GB and while the cleanrip program ripping the game, it showed xxxxMB/25xxMB next to the progress bar. The SD card I'm using is 4GB and is now full, so I'm guessing it's not working because the rip couldn't complete? But why is the file larger than I expected, can I make do something to make it fit?

If I can't get it work with the 4GB sd card, is there something else I need to do before it will work with my usb stick? It's 16GB so there should be plenty of room on there.
Use a USB-Loader to dump your games on your USB stick. Dolphin supports the *.wbfs format Wink
Wow thanks for the fast reply! I'll try that. :•)
Also, the .iso should be about 4.7GB, so you would need a compressed format (such as .wbfs) to fit the game on a 4GB card. After compression it may well be the size the internet quoted it as being.
USB-Loader (e.g. the USB-Loader GX) already dumps the game in the *.wbfs format Wink
I'm just saying that it was never going to work with cleanrip and a 4GB card, as you hadn't made this so clear.

Cleanrip also trims the ISOs as far as i remember so it shouldn't be a problem
Never done that for me, however it can split .isos across two SD cards, although the pieces have never successfully matched up unless all the pieces are on one card.
I want to give Cleanrip another go before I try a USB loader because it seems that I have to do some stuff that downgrades the IOS before I can use USB Loader GX and the instructions come with a warning that it could brick my wii if I don't know what I'm doing and, well, I don't know what I'm doing really. There's an option with Cleanrip that involves something called chunks, and I'm guessing that means it can rip the disc in parts so that I get two iso files that together make up the whole thing? And if I do that, it seems that there's an easy way to combine them by putting them together in a folder with a certain .bat file?
the size of your sd card is definitely the cause, cleanrip will not trim the iso, so you will need to do the chunks.
when all is done, from the command line it is something along the lines of copy /b x.part1.iso + x.part2.iso destination.iso
