Thanks, everyone, for the replies. I guess a purchase of Windows is in my future (I've been meaning to do it anyway to get access to the rest of the Steam library). I'm currently studying comp. sci. and perhaps some day I'll be able to contribute something.

Yep, it's a good decision to buy and install Windows 7. You will have much fun with Dolphin cause it'll run faster on Windows 7
