Quote:start button is still there

But the traditional start menu isn't; clicking on the start button just throws you into the new Metro UI
Just change value in regedit , windows 8 -> windows 7

hasn't worked since consumer preview
Okay, I'm starting to lean towards getting Windows 8 more and more.

Last question. This one has me really hesitant into getting the current Windows 8 release. I read somewhere that you can't upgrade to "official" Windows 8 from whatever Windows 8 versions are available now. I don't want to set up Windows 8 NOW, only to set the whole thing up again when they release the "complete" version. Has anyone stumbled on any news about this and confirm?
That is what they did from the developer to consumer previews, so I'd say wait.
Try ClassicShell
Windows 8 is just unusable, everything takes much longer, is much more complicated and takes many more clicks to complete. Important system settings need to be found at 3 different places instead of one and if you just want to lean back and use a mouse and no keyboard, you cannot use the system at all. If you have many programs (100+) on your PC the lack of a start menu is a HUGE problem, since you always need to know the exact name what you are searching for. And then there is secure boot, making management and of the boot process much more complicated.

However, as the overall PC market moves away from Intel and AMD64 CPUs very quickly, there will be the need of an ARM based Dolphin in the future. Hopefully Windows 9 will support native ARM desktop apps.

Windows 8 is the biggest ans most fatal failure in the History of Microsoft and the lead designer should get fired immediately for doing everything completely wrong and not listening to the huge Windows community.
The new interface, i call it TIFKAM (The interface formerly know as metro) is actually just a replacer for the start menu.

UNTIL they make more Metro-Apps of course

However, i seriously hope the PC market stays at x64 CPU's, ARMs are just tad slow for a gaming machine ATM
High end PCs will be x86-64 for some time to come. ARM CPUs are more than just a little too slow.
