You're not going to get anywhere here (other than PC advice). You should report the guy to Ebay and get your money back. Next time make sure you know what you're buying regardless of what people say. People who know about computers would see a Pentium 4 listed somewhere and then if they read that the seller says that it's "powerful", they would laugh and walk away. You simply didn't know what you were doing. Take the proper steps and make a report.

I've accepted about three times now that it was my bad for not knowing/researching enough, no need to keep putting me down about it.

That's not the way eBay works, I've paid for the item, he's sent it and I've received it, if I report him to eBay they'll just say try and sort it out with the seller yourself. Only in the rarest of cases (E.g: You didn't receive the item, or it was broken, will eBay step in) If you're not happy with the item you have to sort it out with the seller yourself, which is what I'm trying to do, but getting no where with as he keeps coming back with excuses.

I'm still coming back to this thread as I need advice on what the seller comes back with (E.g: Him saying a Intel core 2 quad will fit with my motherboard and run well - Is this true?)

lol no XD
You said he accepts refunds, though you asked him for a refund and he doesn't want to do it? Have you explained to him that when you bought from him it was because you felt comfortable doing so because of that refund policy and now you expect him to honor it? All he's going to do is give you more junk that you can't use, so making more deals is futile. Good luck.

The thing is, when I try to explain this to him, he rubbishes it and says he knows what he's talking about.

Yeah, that's a good point, I'll say that and make it clear I'm only interested in a refund.

Oh you bought this on ebay. That's why. Well this is level of risk that you have to accept when using ebay, and you really should have taken a harder look at the specs first.

Um.....yes. Pentium IV started using LGA 775 in 2004. Most if not all LGA 775 motherboards work with core 2 duo/quad cpus. Since his pentium IV is running at 3.2GHz at stock there is a pretty high chance that he has a Prescott model with an LGA 775 motherboard.

If he has DDR2 667 MHz RAM or higher in a dual channel configuration his memory won't bottleneck it.

I forgot about that :p
He's told me I can have a refund as I was polite, manners do get you somewhere.

I've asked him for the return address.

This will be the PC I'm buying, anything you guys can tell me that's bad/good about it? Also will it be able to run SA2B, Luigi's Mansion and Zelda Windwaker well?

1) No video card included
2) No operating System included (Windows 7)
3) Can't overclock the processor
4) The power supply is probably garbage

Someone here will suggest something better, just list your max spending limit.

I have a graphics card and windows 7, is overclocking really needed for the games I listed? I could ask him about the Power supply.

My Max limit is about £250, but take into consideration I have a graphics card and Operating system ready.

EDIT: How about this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Pentium-Desktop-PC-4GB-RAM-750GB-HDD-Windows-7-Home-Premium-/320963253126?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item4abae69386#ht_3246wt_1398

It says on the CPU Hierarchy that Intel Pentium processors are very fast? - Although I've got a bad feeling that listing is referring to a Pentium 4 processor..

Out of all these PCs which one would you guys recommend?
