What do you need 750 watts for ?
Do you have 2xGPU, or 12 hard drives ? If not - with 1-3 hard drives and mid range video card 500w (real ones) will be just fine.

It's the opposite (for dolphin)
Nvidia GTX 550 ti has more memory bandwidth and Pixel Rate than GTX 460 .Therefore , it's better choice for price & low power consumtion & anti-aliasing & 4x IR
There is no reason for getting an old GPU such as GTX 460 .

Thats gimped version of 460 gtx with 192 memory bus.
I am using normal version with 256 bus

But I overclocked it so basically I have 560 gtx.

But there is big problem when comparing cards like this - most important factor which is shader perfomance rate ( I made that up lol ) is missing.
Pixel or texture fill rate are not that important anymore..they were before cards started using shaders.
So basically comparision like these are useless now.
You can only compare cards by reading reviews, looking at game benchmarks etc..atleast untill they invent "shader fillrate" or something.

There certanly is reason to get older gpu if it will perform better then newer one for same price Smile
For nvidia basically you shouldnt go below x6x models, because they are very cripled, and this has been rule for a lot of years ( almost half shaders when comparing 450/550 vs 460/560,260 is also a lot of better then 250 etc ).
I am pretty sure when they release 650 its gonna be a lot slower then 660 Smile

That gimped version as you call it is the normal version of the GTX 460.

What you're using is called the GTX 460 1GB edition.

There are several terms for it but shader throughput seems to be the most common.

We already have a "shader fillrate". It's called shader throughput and it's measured in GFLOPs. The problem is that just like pixel/texture fillrate the numbers can't be compared directly due to differences in the architecture. Shader throughput, just like pixel fillrate and texture fillrate reflects the maximum performance that the chip is theoretically capable of under perfect circumstances (which may never arise). This is why for both CPUs and GPUs using a wide range consumer applications as a benchmark is a better way to show how powerful a chip really is (like you said). In general Nvidias architectures have almost always been more efficient than AMDs in terms of resource utilization. They can achieve the same "shader performance" in many applications with a lower shader throughput.

Anyways like admin said dolphin is far more taxing on video memory bandwidth and pixel fillrate than shader throughput when you crank up the IR and AA.
