Hi,

I am totally new to Dolphin. I just installed the program 2 days ago. So far I have not had any problems. All games seem to play as if they were played on Wii, except for the HD of course. Nice software!

Now I wanted to try Brave, a relatively new game. The performance of this game is very bad: I have slowmo, maybe 1/3rd of the normal speed, low FPS and sometimes stuttering audio.

These are all symptoms of a too slow PC, however my specs are good (I think) and other similar games play without any slowdown of problems (e.g. Ice Age 3).

Now I noticed that Brave is not on the list of games that can be played. Does this mean Dolphin will be updated so that Brave can be played? Or is there something wrong with my system specs? Can anyone help me?

Your CPU is slow for most games unless you overclock it (3.2-3.6GHz)
Dolphin only use 2 cores (plus 1 with "LLE on thread" enabled)
Nvidia GT 520 is low end gfx card , check Minimum GPU requirement

This game has just been released so be patient for reports

I don't know this game but if it turned out that it were a really demanding game your specs might be a little weak for it

Like I said I did not notice slowdown or low FPS in ANY game before. This leads me to believe that my specs are OK for most games.

I know about the GT 520. I recently bought it because I use this PC as a media center to play movies. Does not require a stronger GPU. Maybe I should have bought something else Rolleyes

Any game ? Really ? Even i5 3570 (non k) couldn't run The Last Story full speed
Neither my i5 480 nor E5300 @ 3.6GHz could run Xenoblade full speed

To sum up :
If you want better speed -> Overclock that CPU or get a faster CPU
If you want to run Dolphin in HD or FullHD or higher -> Get the faster GPU

@Emulatorke - Different games have different hardware demands. Some games need a lot of power to run properly, other games will run fullspeed even on underpowered hardware.
Well, like I said I am new to Dolphin so there are not too many that I tried. These work well and look quite demanding as well:

- Ice Age 3
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Pandora's Tower

But I get the message... system is a bit outdated. That is a letdown as I wanted to use my 'old' PC for such things like media and Wii games. Sonner or later I would have had to invest in new hardware anyway. Seems this might be sooner rather than later. Thanks for your help!
60 FPS all the time on Super Mario Galaxy 2 ? No slow down at all
Sorry but it's impossible on that CPU . Nosound98 (google him ) has the better CPU than yours . Although he overclocked his Q9505 @ 3.6GHz , SMG 2 wouldn't run full speed without using frameskipping

Perfomance clock for clock : AMD FX- series -> AMD Phenom II -> Core 2 duo / Core 2 Quad = Llano -> 1st gen i3/i5/i7 (nehalem, for example : i3 530 ,i5 760,i7 920 ) -> 2nd gen i3/i5/i7 (Sandy Bridge , For Example : i3 2120 , i5 2500k ,i7 2600k) -> 3rd gen i3/i5/i7 (Ivy Bridge , For Example : i3 3225 ,i5 3570k ,i7 3770k)
Your CPU is behind 3 generation

I know, I am into home movies as well and I have been using this PC for 4 years. People told me that this PC would not play H.264 50 FPS at 27Mbps, still it does without dropping frames. Not in all software though, only in Media Player Classic.

I will test a little bit with Mario 2 and let you know Dodgy
Hi!

I have installed Dolphin on my new PC:

i7 2700K 3.5Ghz
Nvidea Geforce 560 GTX
RAM: 16Gb

Windows performance index is 7.6 !!! Believe me the PC excells at everything else I throw at it...

I tried Brave again and I get 20 FPS and speed between 50 and 60%

This is only marginally better than on my 'old' PC. I guess pure hardware performance isn't the problem or possibly the game is so demanding that hardly any PC will be able to play it.

I will also try SMG2 on my old PC but I cannot for the moment as I am awaiting delivery of wireless sensor bar.
