Don't ask me about their advertising strategy. They frequently claim not to be concerned with specs like their competition, yet they still do what you pointed out.

I'm pretty sure it would have helped launch day sales of the iPhone 4S if:
- They'd mentioned that although the outer case was the same, the processor was almost twice as powerful, especially for multithreaded applications.
- They'd properly explained how much better the camera was.
- They'd admitted that the iPhone 4 had problems, but they'd fixed them.
- They'd called it the iPhone 5, and made it obvious it was a different machine.
