I'm not gonna be playing very intensive games. And the more intensive ones are handled by my desktop, which i already have dolphin on. I just need something cheap and portable cause I'm spending the next few weeks travelling with my brothers college hunting.
So not on like HD and max settings, that Pavilion wouldn't work?
Nope.
The CPU is too slow and the GPU would struggle with 1x native.
Get the Ideapad instead.

I would place this as the minimum.
Gotcha. So with the ideapad, what settings would you run it on?
1-1.5x native. Probably fullspeed.
With the Acer Aspire
2x-2.5x native, fullspeed for sure.
What are the minimum specs I'd need to tell someone like at a store if i went looking?
I'm actually thinking i might be able to get the aspire if this weekend works out well for me.

A Sandy-Bridge/Ivy-Bridge i3-i5 processor (These have 4 digits (XXXX), such as "2330m") and a Dedicated GPU from the Nvidia GT 500 / 600 series or the AMD HD 5000 / 6000 series.
Is the difference between the Ideapad and Aspire that big to justify the extra 100? Like how much more powerful is the Aspire?
Sorry for all the questions and stuff. I just really know like nothing about computers. Thanks for all the advice. I really appriciate it.

YES.
In PC gaming, specifically.
The Aspire is worth $250 more than it is priced.
That GPU is on par with a GT 430, which is fantastic considering the Max resolution is 720p or 1360 x768, and it will max most PC games out.
Also the fact that the i5 reaches up to 3.0 ghz, which is as fast as a
desktop i3 2100.

So it's a definite 'just work harder and get the aspire'.
Cause the way i get paid is sort of like commissions.
Cool lots of thanks.
And it'd still be just a good all around laptop incase i decided to sell it to a someone to upgrade, right? For someone who just wants it for like school or mabye video/photo editing?
I could prolly convince them to buy it for at least 600 right? Even if they knew what they were doing with computers?
Even if it's used?

Probably...
The GPU would certainly help with video editing...
Newer laptops do come around, though...
By the time you chuck it may only go for $300-$400...
Ehh...
