I see SS really, really likes the Resident Evil franchise. Tongue
Are you not disappointed by the fact that the franchise is heading the opposite direction?

Nice updates guys, I really enjoy reading your personal notes.

Shonumi Wrote:Your PS3 list is a little, empty... I know you like RPGs, there are at least a couple you should check out, like SO4, Tales of Graces, and Valkyrie Chronicles.
Well... my PS3 is homebrew, I'm afraid I'll have to miss out Tales of Graces. I've played the Valkyrie Chronicles demo when it first came out, and I liked its style, so I'll probably hunt for a bargain.
As for Star Ocean, I see it's the 4th of the franchise. Usually when I start playing these grand RPGs, I want to start chronologically, unless I'm not missing anything of course.
(Like the Tales of series, which are also independent)

AoNThree Wrote:Main problem with Neverwinter Nights: It has a licence key, so it's stuck on a PC which I never use. I bought it because I'd played about an hour at someone else's house, and then 5 years later, saw a copy of the deluxe edition (came with expansion packs), and bought it.
I've never had that problem.
I've played the game on multiple computers I've owned, and it worked perfectly fine. It's not tied to your computer IIRC.
But it's good that you bought the deluxe edition. We need a NWN 3. (preferably closer to NWN than NWN 2)

I know Half-Life 2 and Resident Evil 4 would be there, but no idea in what order or which other game I'd add to the list. I'd much rather think about the top 3 for each platform. We're already cutting out many other good games, no need to make the list shorter. Smile

I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, but for clarity, you should elaborate a bit more.
@SS - I only brought it up because I remember an interview with Hideo Kojima during the production of MGS3, in which a similar question was brought up. I've already made my choice once on a different forum (Sonic 3, SO3, and Halo: CE I believe). Plus, it's just challenging to ask yourself for fun :p especially when you've been gaming for decades. Still, I like seeing everyone else's list. Some pretty impressive games have been mentioned.

@Garteal - SO4 is actually the prequel to the SO series, but it has near absolutely nothing in common story-wise with the rest of the SO games, except for mentioning things here and there that appear in later games. The same is said for SO3. In fact, the only SO games with strong story links are SO 1 and 2, and Blue Sphere (that one's Japanese only, trying to play/translate in my spare time). Valkyrie Chronicles is definitely worth playing.

Forgot to mention this but also have a look at the Disgaea games, I think 3 and 4 are on the PS3. Those games might be an acquired taste, however, but they're good for humor and hours of gameplay.
PC:
-Dota 2
-Starcraft 2
-Age of Mythology

GC:
-Wind Waker

N64:
-SM64
-Star Wars Rouge Squadron
Damn this is going to be hard. Only three eh? I guess for PC games I'll go with the three most popular genres and pick one from each.

PC:
-Company of Heroes (rts)
-Tremulous (fps)
-Mass Effect (rpg, although really it's combination of several genres including tps and action/adventure)

PS3, Xbox360, Xbox:
-Sorry, I don't own shitty consoles Tongue

PS2:
-Sadly I missed out on this one. When I get my ivy bridge rig up and running later this year I'll start using PCSX2 and get some of the classics that I missed out on.

PS:
-Missed out on this one too. Thought from what I gather the N64 actually had more games that I would have liked anyways.

Wii:
-Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Donkey Kong Country Returns
-For now this slot goes to New Super Mario Brothers. I haven't had a chance to play skyward sword or xenoblade much yet so they could end up here.

Gamecube:
-Metroid Prime
-Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
-Pikmin 2

N64:
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time
-The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
-Donkey Kong 64 (that's right I loved it and there is nothing you can say to erase those happy memories)

SNES (this is torture....only three):
-Super Mario All-Stars
-Super Mario World
-Super Metroid

NES:
-Never owned one, it was before my time. And super mario all-stars on the SNES has all of the mario games from the NES so it's not like I missed out on a lot.

3DS:
Don't own one, don't care.

DS:
Don't own one, don't care.

GBA:
-Metroid Fusion
-Pokemon Saphire/Ruby/Emerald, maybe revise this
-fill this one in later

GBC (I will need to dig up my games and then possibly revise this list):
-The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
-The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
-Pokemon Silver/Gold, maybe revise this

GB:
-tetris
-Kirby's Dreamland
-fill this one in later

Sega master system, genesis, CD, 32x, saturn, dreamcast:
Believe it or not I have never owned a sega console. But I love playing the original sonic games on genesis emulators. So I guess:
-Sonic the hedgehog 1
-Sonic the hedgehog 2
-Sonic the hedgehog 3

Arcade:
None of them really interest me. I guess you could say that this was before my time. Games based on high scores and such don't really have any long term value to me.

1st gen consoles (mostly pong clones):
Nobody owned these.

2nd gen consoles (atari 2600 was the most popular):
I don't really care about any of these old primitive games. Most of them had a superior arcade version anyways.

*Puts on glasses* Yeeeeeeeaaaaah!
Looks like we have a huge Metroid fan in the house. Smile
Still working on the GB, GBC, and GBA list. That could take awhile since I've long since lost my collection of portable games and game consoles and I can hardly remember more than a few games from them.

Quote:Looks like we have a huge Metroid fan in the house.

Part of that is the fact that I like retro studios development style so much. Other M was one of the worst games I've ever played, a complete insult to the franchise. I'm really sad to see retro moving on to other IPs but I suppose it's time. They made donkey kong country returns too and that was another one of my all time favorite games.
