Cheap build for Dolphin:

G860 processor
H61 motherboard
4 GB DDR3 RAM
Hard Drive
Operating System
GTS 450/ HD 6750 (Personally recommend GTX 550 Ti/ HD 6850.)
500 watt or better PSU

And there we go.Tongue

Actually when you asked this guy "my games are gonna work fine?" he must've supposed you were talking about PC games. Not sure he even heard about emulation but we can't blame him for that Tongue
My machine can run Rage at full speed at my native desktop resolution (2048x1536) and still it doesn't run Last Story or SMG2 at full speed.
I think guy at store was talking about original Wing Commander (which runs at 1500-2500 fps on low-end 486SX machine) Big Grin
I doubt that machine will even run Doom 3 at 200% with max settings XD, not to mention 2008 games like first Mass Effect, except for resolutions like 640x480.

It's better to get a quad core CPU, for LLE on thread and it leaves some "space" for OS and other tasks.

You'll notice I said "PC games" not "Recent PC games". If the guy was 40 I suppose he wasn't thinking about COD MW3 or Batman AC Big Grin

Shocker

Well, I guess it's not to bad cause it only set me back $160. Now question- the minimum specs said that you NEED a video card to run games. Well, could an HP G60 (Link) run Super Paper Mario well? Are laptops an exception to the video card rule?
AMD Turion ? Nvidia 8200M ? Laptop ?
Forget it !

Way too slow (and not just the GPU either)
I agree. This PC is an office PC and not a Gaming machine >.>

Of course he's going to say that. He's trying to sell his garbage to you!
He has to convince you somehow.

PC gaming is not the same as emulation.
PC games are mostly GPU bound, while emulation is CPU bound.
And yes, with that CPU, you will never gain fullspeed in either of the mentioned games.

No. Spend more money if you truly wish to play this game at 100%.
You would need a $400 PC at minimum to enjoy Super Paper Mario.

As a reference, my PC costs $520, without the OS or HDD.

Posting an optimal build a minute.

(Note that this build is for good performance in everything, not just SPM.)

i5 3750k
Z77 motherboard
4 GB DDR3 RAM
Hard Drive
Operating System
GTX 550 Ti/ HD 6850
500 watt or better PSU.

Eco-build

Total Price : $540

Minus the OS: $440
Minus the HDD: $ 460
Minus both the OS and HDD: S370

Dolphin doesn't tend to like cheap hardware, sadly. Sad

I am sorry to tell you this, but you gonna have to spend more then $160 if you want to play anything decently.
