Ive just tested "FF-CC" last week and was glad, that it runs better like in the past.
I cant agree with Lord Vador or DefenderX, that "use Dolphin 3.0 official release" ist the best option for this game. I never managed to get FF-CC run smooth with nearly perfect sound using 3.0.
I would recomend one of the newest gits. At least with my rig i have the best results with the 3d9 video-backend. I would deactivate AA, cause it results in a graphical glitch (two crossing black lines through the whole screen) and raise the internal res instead. With 3x IR, Copy to Texture (set the slide-bar to safe) and LLE ive got a smooth running Intro (with this beautiful song) without any stutters and crackles for the first time
With 3d11 or openGL i had a worse performance or/and graphical glitches.
Hope it helps.
