So my friends, today I did some tests with Dolphin (not the benchmarks. for them, I need more time). Anyway, here are the results:
* No overheating so far. The two fans run with 6.000rpm (yeah, that's much) and the highest temp I got was 87°C (Core0). Core1, Core2 and Core3 were below 85°C, Core3 was about 75°C. The temps of nVidia GeForce GT 650M were between 70°C and 80°C. Very good temps in my opinion
* All games run I played so far are playable, even Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 (not with LLE).
* Fullscreen Resolution (2880x1880) + IR "Window Size" cause massive slowdowns (clear, the GeForce GT 650M is not able to handle this resolution). 3x IR is much better and don't cause slowdowns.
That's all (for now). Further information:
* Specs are in my profile
* Used Dolphin build: Dolphin 3.0-745 ICC Build (by me
)
* Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (through Bootcamp)

So, which games did you run? And how long did you run them for?
What exactly did you do in the game? Did you stand still, or did you move around/fight, etc?

Games:
* Mario Kart Wii
* Metroid Prime Trilogy
* Super Mario Galaxy 1+2
* Wario Land: Shake it
I played for about 1 hour (all games together). In Metroid Prime, Wario Land and Super Mario Galaxy I moved around and in the areas etc. Anyway, I didn't stand still
In Mario Kart Wii, I did some races.

Those are the kind of temps I get on my laptop and I was told that was hot so I hope you are right. I am usually anywhere between 70-85C.
When I played MGSTTS on 4x IR I hardly lose any FPS so I guess it depends on the game.

The temps of my old Lenovo notebook were bad
More than 90°C.
btw: I reached the highest temp in Super Mario Galaxy, this is one of the most demanding games.

I've to the 2.6ghz retina macbook pro.
I did bootcamp it and try a few games but run out of time as I had some "real work" to catch up on. :-)
I'll bookmark this thread now so I can pinch your settings and builds etc. Initial testing proved best at 2.5X internal resolution in Skyward sword, but I guess its very much build dependant. Got some screen tearing as well, I definitely need to tweak the settings etc.
You can use Lubbo's Fax control to manually kick up the fans to full speed if you want...
Its the cpu that runs hot, the gpu actually runs pretty cool and there is some room for overclocking the GPU.. I can grab the GPU overclock settings if anyone is interested?

I already use this programm
but thanks for the hint though.Overclocking the GPU won't improve the performance in Dolphin (Well, maybe a little bit but not much)
