Perhaps this is just my Linux way of thinking, but maybe you guys should try to launch Dolphin from the commandline. It might print out something informative when it crashes. I haven't been a full-time Windows user in a while, though, but it might be worth a shot.
When a program crashes, you have the option to show the details of the crash. However, from what I remember reading somewhere on the forums, this information can be useless unless you have a certain build file. It wouldn't hurt, though, if someone could post the full crash details, perhaps they might be of some use.
The problem was that MaMario doesn't bundle the key to error codes in with the main builds. This means that most people don't have the list.
So I was messing around with this issue again *because I still have it Lol* trying to pinpoint the problem...In a early post I stated that my laptop can open and close it not problem...it is my desktop I am having a problem with...

So I downloaded dolphin from an emulator site. Its the original 3.0 version. I downloaded the 3.0 version earlier from here and had the crash on start up problem. With the one I downloaded from the third party site, it crashes on start up, but I am able to open it every 8-12 times of trying to do so. Which is not the same I can say wtih the version I got from here...

Next im going to try and look at my laptop's task manager while dolphin is running and compare it too this one when I try and open dolphin.

It might be a "slightly modified version" though. On which site did you get it?
<---a direct link to the version of dolphin
I don't think you should be linking to that site :/

Don't post links to rom sites here.

So BEX stands for Buffer Overflow Exception, which, as I thought, means that system memory is not being allocated for Dolphin.

I did some searching and found this . Try adding Dolphin.exe as an exception in the DEP settings and see if that helps.

Edit: I tried this and Windows wouldn't let me add Dolphin to the list, so this probably won't work.

More info here .
