Not really. You can't really get any faster than a 2500K at the moment.
huh? i7 quad is better, i5 3xxx too..?

It won't make any difference. For example you're going to get roughly the same performance out of an i7 2600K as you will out of a i5 2500K.
really? so with an i7 MP will lag at the same spots, and i7 isnt able to handle very demanding peaks, like the i5 2500k, too?
I really dont know, what the cache size has to do with the speed of a cpu.
Not the cache is important, but how fast the cpu can process large amounts of data. And here is an i7 better or not?
Do you want to tell me, that its not possible to play MP on dolphin with absolutely no lag and highest settings?
At the same clock rate you will get the same performance on a quad core i5 and a quad core i7.
Update: Moved FX series cpus to category 2.
What are we doing now, comparing higher clocked processors VS lower clocked processors? Llano is faster than bulldozer clock for clock.
Quote:Performance categorized by box names
I do not mention clock rate anywhere. All cpus are assumed to be at stock clocks. I am simply categorizing their product brand names by average performance in dolphin. FX should have been in category 3, not 4.
Any chance we can add the Intel G620, G630, G640 Sandy bridge models etc to this list? I can play pretty much any game cube game at full speed without any trouble, although I'm yet to try Wii games, they're great processors for the money.
in my experiences, at least equal to my specs, dual core 2.6ghz(currentlt set at 1.8ghz) 2gb of ram ddr2, 256 mb video card(dedicated) support at least shader 2.0
with best config, i can play dbz budokai tenkaichi 3 wii more than 32 fps, timesplitter 2 gc(must you framelimiter lock at 60 fps), mario power tennis(40 fps), mario kart wii 28-42 fps, mario kart double dash(fast), virtua tennis 4 52 fps...
if you take time to find the appropriate config, revision also; you will get the highest fps on your specs

In case you don't know , he has Pentium
Sandy Bridge G620 @ 2.6GHz [Category 2: Very Fast]
For the same clock 2.6GHz , A Sandy Bridge CPU(2nd gen) will beat Intel Core i3 (1st generation)
Core i3 will beat Core 2 duo and so on
It looks like you have a wolfdale dual core @ 2.6GHz [Category 5: Moderate or Category 4: Moderate/fast] which is too slow for most games
