Hello, im considering building a new budget system and one of the things that interest me is to play certain Wii games through the dolphin (like xenoblade c. and re zero for example) with some quality gain over what the console produces and a decent framerate
so the possible specs are
Intel Core i3 2130
2 x 4 gb ddr3 ram
HD 6670 1gb ram
and a cheap motherboard
first question is what do you think
second, will i see significant gain with the next cheapest intel that is the i5 2320 or the 2400
third is the pcsx2 emulator more demanding than the dolphin or less ?
Make sure you do comparisons on some benchmarks. I've heard that when going low end, sandy bridge based Pentiums can actually be faster and cheaper than low end Core i3s. So make sure you check some benchmarks and get the most bang for your buck. While PC games and generic benchmarks aren't a perfect representation of how dolphin will perform on that chip, they are good rough guide for telling what is the strongest chip for the lowest price. Better yet, you can use the
wiki to look up processors you are considering and see how users have reported them in games.

Everything is fine, but I would definitely suggest i5 2320 or 2400 because i3 is dual core, while i5 is quad core, and they are not much more expensive.
I did same thing as you, didnt have a lot of money and put together decent build cheapest I could.
I went with i5.
You still can buy cheap motherboard

do you mean low end Core i5s by any chance ?
Pentium Sandy Bridge , For Example : Pentium G860 is almost as fast as i3 2100

This is for people who really are low on cash.
i3 is still better.
and i5 is a lot better

Not much difference when it come to dolphin emu .
i3 is faster in other application because it has Hyper Threading (HT) feature which the pentium does not have . Dolphin does not benefit from HT btw

True

the thing is that ive heard the dolphin doesnt use all 4 cores and the i3 2130 is clocked at 3.4 while the cheaper i5 2320 or 2400 within my budget are clocked at 3 and 3.1
so im asking will it make a real difference in performance ?
Well ... If you use LLE backend , i5 is a better choice

I5 is much better for everything including dolphin.
If you can afford it,go for it.
And no,you are not correct about speed either, because i5 has turbo boost while i3 doesnt. i5 will also boost to around 3.3 when using only 2 cores
